Overview
Acura recently upgraded its certified pre-owned (CPO) program. The Acura CPO warranty still extends the new-car powertrain warranty up to 7 years or 100,000 miles from the original new-car sale date. The big news, though, is it now extends the new-car limited warranty by 2 years or 100,000 miles
What We Like
Long powertrain warranty; fully transferable; no deductible; 2 years or 100,000 miles of additional limited warranty coverage
What We Don't
Powertrain warranty starts from original purchase date; no complimentary loaner car
Program Specifics
If you're looking for a used Acura, you might appreciate the peace of mind that comes with a manufacturer-backed certified pre-owned warranty, especially considering Acura's solid warranty terms.
The most impressive part of Acura's CPO warranty is its powertrain coverage, which is 7 years or 100,000 miles from the car's original sale date. That's longer than many rivals, as most luxury brands provide only 6 years of coverage, and it offers excellent peace of mind for shoppers who may be reticent about buying a used car. We also like that Acura boosted its limited warranty coverage to 2 years or 100,000 miles, which either picks up after whatever of the original 4-year or 50,000-mile warranty ends, or, if it's out of warranty, begins on the purchase date of the CPO Acura. The 100,000 mileage limit is total odometer miles. Moreover, Acura's warranty offers several other key benefits to sweeten the pot. For example, the warranty is fully transferable with no fee, which can't be said about some rival brands. And there's no deductible per service visit. Also, there are a number of complimentary Acura Motor Club benefits during the 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, including 24-hour roadside assistance, trip-interruption reimbursement benefits and complimentary concierge service, like trip routing. Complimentary for three months are satellite radio and the cloud-based, connected system AcuraLink. Additionally, an Acura CPO vehicle's first scheduled maintenance is free. As a result, we think highly of Acura's CPO warranty, and while there's still some room for improvement, we suspect many drivers will prefer the certified warranty to having no warranty at all.
