Lincoln’s certified pre-owned program offers 6 years or 100,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage from the date the car was originally sold — an increase of 2 years and 50,000 miles over the original bumper-to-bumper warranty. Lincoln’s CPO program is also fully transferable to future owners, though using the brand’s CPO warranty requires paying a steep $100 deductible per visit.
What We Like
Full transferability; long warranty coverage; special financing rates
What We Don’t
Steep deductible; warranty starts from car’s original sale date, which can be confusing
If you’re looking for a used Lincoln, you may want to consider the brand’s certified pre-owned program in order to get the peace of mind that comes with a manufacturer-backed warranty. But just how good is Lincoln’s CPO program? Here’s what we think.
The cornerstone of Lincoln’s certified pre-owned program is a bumper-to-bumper warranty, which lasts for 6 years or 100,000 miles from the car’s original sale date. That’s good coverage — and it’s comparable to most upscale luxury brand rivals such as Jaguar. It also gives Lincoln buyers an extra 2 years and 50,000 miles of coverage compared to the original factory warranty.
Unfortunately, Lincoln’s CPO warranty isn’t perfect. Part of the reason is because it includes a $100 deductible per repair visit, which is higher than most in the industry. We also think it’s confusing that the warranty starts on the car’s original sale date — though that’s common among luxury brands, and ultimately only a minor issue.
Other benefits of Lincoln’s CPO program: The luxury brand’s warranty offers full transferability to future owners, should you decide to sell your CPO Lincoln while it’s still under warranty. And you can get special financing rates to help defray the extra cost of buying a certified car instead of a typical used model. It also provides 24/7 roadside assistance, free courtesy car during covered repairs and trip-interruption benefits.
Although Lincoln’s certified pre-owned program isn’t perfect, we think it’s very much worth considering if you’re in the market for a used Lincoln. Find a CPO Lincoln for sale
