Program Specifics

Infiniti’s certified pre-owned program is designed to add a little peace-of-mind to the used car buying process, as the program touts several different warranty options and a few other alluring items.

The best part of Infiniti’s CPO coverage is its warranty. Unfortunately, the warranty terms are also something of a drawback, as the coverage can be confusing — so we’ll break it down for you.

If you buy a certified pre-owned Infiniti with less than 15,000 miles on the odometer, you’ll get a CPO bumper-to-bumper limited warranty that lasts for 6 years and/or 75,000 miles from the original sale date. Choose one with over 15,000 miles, and the coverage expands to 6 years/unlimited miles from the original sale date. Finally, if the original factory warranty has already expired on the certified pre-owned Infiniti you buy, you’ll be covered for 2 years and unlimited miles from the date you buy it, regardless of the original sale date.

Indeed, it’s a little confusing — but the warranty coverage is pretty good compared to rival programs. Also, Infiniti’s CPO program is now fully transferable to subsequent owners, which will improve your resale value if you decide to sell your Infiniti before the warranty expires. And, we like the fact that Infiniti offers complimentary basic maintenance for the first year of ownership. Other perks include 24/7 roadside assistance, free courtesy car during covered repairs and trip-interruption benefits when a repair is needed more than 100 miles from home.

Although we haven’t always recommended Infiniti’s CPO program, improvements to the warranty (which formerly only covered the powertrain) and new full transferability have changed our minds. We now think the program is worth extra money over a standard used car, especially considering the additional peace-of-mind it provides drivers who may be uneasy about buying a used vehicle.

  1. I just called Infiniti Customer Affairs after getting conflicting info from different dealerships. They stated that the years/mileage on the CPO Warranty ONLY APPLIES TO THE POWERTRAIN. There is no bumper-to-bumper warranty.
i.e. the only difference between the warranty of non-certified and a certified Infiniti is the unlimited mileage on the powertrain.

    • This is not correct, the CPO warranty is somewhere between bumper to bumper and powertrain.  There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason as to what is covered, though.  My driver’s seat heating and cooling system went out and the entire system was replaced under CPO warranty.  My electric radiator fans went out and were not covered under CPO warranty (but they did goodwill the repair without asking as I wasn’t far out of bumper to bumper warranty).  I’ve asked my dealer for a list and they said they didn’t have one, they have to put the repair in the system and see if that part comes back as covered.
