Isuzu Motors' history began in 1916, in Tokyo, but did not enter the U.S. market until 1972, after partnering with GM for 34% stake. The first vehicle sold in the U.S. was the Chevrolet LUV. In 1974, Isuzu introduced its first co-produced branded vehicle, the Gemini. In later years, Isuzu introduced many popular vehicles, like the Rodeo, Trooper and Amigo. They continued producing both branded and co-branded vehicles until sales softened in 2008, at which time they withdrew from the U.S. market.
