We’ve been living with the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid for a few months shy of a year now, so it’s very much starting to feel like our own personal minivan. It’s funny how foreign a new car feels when you first get behind the wheel, and how familiar it begins to feel after just a few weeks of driving it. Living with this plug-in hybrid minivan every day is mostly a joy, though there are a few things we’d change about it:
- We’re disappointed that you only get 33 miles per charge. The good news, however, is that with Level 2 charging, it only takes around 2 hours to recharge the battery.
- The seats tend to feel a bit stiff, even with the lumbar on its lowest setting. My husband, who has a bad back, has a hard time getting comfortable in this minivan.
- Because of the battery, the Pacifica Hybrid doesn’t come with Chrysler’s renowned Stow ‘n Go Seating and Storage system for the second-row seats. Granted, you can remove them if needed, but they weigh 65 pounds each! The third row does lower into the floor, though, so that helps with storage needs, assuming you don’t need the seating.
Overall, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is still one of our favorite minivans. It’s luxurious and downright stylish inside and out, and one of our staffers noted that “with 260 horsepower, it never feels underpowered.” I’ll be sad to see this one leave the fleet at the end of the summer.
