I’ve always thought of our CPO 2017 Infiniti Q50 as playing second (or third) fiddle to the brand’s excellent FX, now named the QX70. As sport SUVs and crossovers go, the FX/QX70 is one of best ever made. A few years ago, Autotrader had a certified pre-owned FX35 for a year, and it was one of the most popular cars we’ve ever had in our parking garage. All this to say that I just never looked forward to driving the Q50. Plus, other, seemingly more interesting cars had captured my attention in the meantime.
I should have been behind the wheel of the Q50 a lot sooner. It’s an excellent sporty sedan. The turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 combined with all-wheel drive gives the car a combination of entertaining acceleration and surefooted handling. It’s really the engine that makes this car worth adding to your CPO shopping list — the acceleration is effortless, but the car is still quiet and refined, even on the highway. One staffer took the car on a 1,000-mile road trip to the snowy Northeast.
Look at the upper half of the U.S. on a map — these places present the perfect environment for the Q50 with that excellent V6 and all-wheel drive. Cities like Billings, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver and Detroit spend a good part of the year with ice and snow on the roads. If you don’t want an SUV (I can’t blame you) but still want a car that’s comfortable, attractive, fun, sure-footed and affordable, there’s probably a certified pre-owned Infiniti Q50 in your future.
It’s a lot more fun to talk about acceleration and handling than it is to talk about “getting a good deal,” but a used or CPO 2017 Infiniti Q50 is both fun AND a good deal. Infiniti’s CPO program is generous and frequently makes our list of Top Luxury CPO Programs. However, the warranty varies depending on the mileage when you buy the car — one version has an unlimited-mileage warranty, whereas another goes up to 75,000 total miles.
Infiniti also has specific criteria for certifying cars. Here are two qualifying factors worth mentioning:
- Less than 6 years from the original in-service date and under 70,000 miles
- Clean title history and Carfax Vehicle History Report
Also, here are some lesser-known details of the Infiniti program that make it worth checking out — according to Infiniti:
For the duration of your limited warranty, a qualified representative will assess your needs and dispatch assistance, with no out-of-pocket expense up to $100 for:
- Battery boost (jump-start)
- Flat tire change (using your good spare)
- Out-of-gas delivery ($5 maximum fuel)
- Lock-out assistance
If your vehicle is disabled due to a mechanical breakdown, the Roadside Assistance Representative will arrange for your vehicle to be towed to the nearest Infiniti dealership whenever possible, or to the nearest authorized repair facility. This coverage provides for towing costs not to exceed $100 per claim.
