Best Genesis GV60 Years to Buy Used

Genesis GV60 Quick Facts

  • We think the 2024 and 2025 models are a better choice when buying a used Genesis GV60.
  • The GV60 can travel up to 294 miles on a single charge (RWD model).
  • The 800-volt architecture allows 10%-80% charge in about 18 minutes.

Introduced in 2023, the Genesis GV60 is a compact luxury EV brimming with high-tech features and luxury trappings. First launched only with all-wheel drive (AWD), the GV60’s initial range was limited to around 240 miles. In 2024, Genesis added a rear-wheel-drive model, increasing the range to 294 miles. While the GV60 may not have the range of a Tesla Model Y, it offers more variety, with bright colors inside and out, aggressive styling, and a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty that remains intact if you buy a certified pre-owned (CPO) GV60. But, even if you buy a used Genesis GV60 directly from its owner, the warranty still transfers over but sees powertrain coverage reduced to five years or 60,000 original miles. Competitors for the GV60 include the Tesla Model Y, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the Kia EV6. Read on to see what years are best when buying a used Genesis GV60.

What Is the Best Model-Year Used Genesis GV60?

We think the 2024 and 2025 models are probably a better choice than the 2023 as they have fewer recalls. Still relatively new, the GV60 has experienced some concerning issues. The 2023-2025 models are all part of a recall regarding the charging system and its Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The issue involves the GV60’s smaller 12-volt battery, which operates all the interior systems, such as the display screens, power windows, etc. If the battery fails to charge, it can lead to all sorts of issues, from systems failing to operate correctly to a complete vehicle shutdown.

Genesis GV60 By Model Year: What Do You Get?

First Generation (2023-current)

2024 Genesis GV60 in a fuchsia color.

The 2023 GV60 has two trims: Advanced and Performance.

The Advanced comes nicely equipped with an electric 74-kWh front and 160-kWh rear motor, creating standard all-wheel drive (AWD). Rated at 314 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque, this setup delivers impressively quick off-the-line acceleration and an overall range of up to 248 miles.

Standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels, a glass roof, a hands-free smart liftgate, power-folding side mirrors, power retractable door handles, and rain-sensing wipers. The cabin has unique luxury items, like a rotating crystal gearshift ball and facial recognition software. You’ll also get a driver’s seat power cushion extension, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, heated power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, proximity key with push-button start, rear door sunshade, dual-zone automatic climate control, and dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.

Wrapping up the interior highlights are a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a wireless charging pad, a fingerprint authentication system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet, and a head-up display.

Standard safety systems include forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, a Blind-Spot View Monitor, rear cross-traffic detection and avoidance, a surround-view monitor, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automatic high-beam headlights, front and rear parking sensors, remote park assist, and traffic sign recognition.

The Performance trim upgrades the front motor to match the rear, increasing output to 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Additional Performance trim goodies include an electronic adaptive suspension with a road preview feature, boost mode, larger brakes, 21-inch wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, a driver’s seat with power side bolsters and massage, heated rear seats, and the Digital Key entry and start system.

Model Year Changes:

2025: A new, lower-priced Standard AWD model with 19-inch wheels is added. New base features include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and Genesis Connected Services.
2024: A rear-wheel-drive Standard model is added. It replaces leather with leatherette and removes some high-end features, such as ventilated front seats, the Blind-Spot View Monitor, head-up display, Bang and Olufsen audio, and a heated steering wheel.

Does the Genesis GV60 Qualify for a Used EV Tax Credit?

Although assembled in the United States, a used GV60 won’t qualify for a used tax credit as its sale price would need to be less than $25,000 for qualified buyers.

Can the Genesis GV60 Use a Tesla Supercharger?

Yes, the Genesis GV60 can connect to a Tesla Supercharger. The 2023 and 2024 models can use a Tesla Supercharger but require a NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter to plug in. The 2025 GV60 comes with a NACS port directly from the factory. Some Tesla charging stations now come with a NACS-to-CCS adapter built into the charger, making charging a non-Tesla EV even easier.

How Long Does the Genesis GV60 Battery Last?

Genesis warranties the GV60’s battery for 10 years, but it will likely last up to 20. However, as the battery ages, it will begin to suffer degradation, meaning it will hold less and less of its charge over time. Before buying a used GV60, use the Genesis app to determine battery capacity percentage or health status. A mechanic can also look at the vehicle’s onboard diagnostics system to learn about the EV’s battery health.

Does the Genesis GV60 Have a Hybrid or Gas Option?

No, the GV60 is purely electric with no gas-powered or hybrid engine option.

What Are the Most Reliable Years for the Genesis GV60?

The 2025 model has the fewest recalls and complaints. We’d stick with it or the 2024.

What Are the Worst Years for the Genesis GV60?

The 2023 seems to have had some teething problems out of the gate. Common complaints beyond the electrical problems and some build quality issues involve the dealerships and their ability to quickly resolve the issues.
