Cars With Built-in Vacuums

In-car comfort and convenience features are always evolving, from in-cabin intercoms to rear-seat entertainment to endless USB ports. One of the most family-friendly in-car features is the built-in vacuum.

A built-in vacuum can simplify life on the road, whether on short drives or long trips. This is especially true for families willing to pay a premium for conveniences that make traveling with young kids and your four-legged family members a little easier. And if you’re reading this article, there’s a good chance you’ve spent a fair amount of time with hungry and furry little backseat passengers. It’s enough to make any car owner with clean-freak tendencies crazy.

We’ll tell you which vehicles boast built-in vacuums, and why we wish more cars offered them.

What are Built-in Vacuums?

A car with a built-in vacuum offers a suction hose and various attachments made specifically to clean your car’s interior on the fly. Manufacturers typically conceal these parts in a side panel in the vehicle’s cargo area, where they won’t be an eyesore. Honda first offered its HondaVAC in the 2014 Honda Odyssey, and the competitive minivan segment later adopted the feature.

Why Do I Need a Built-in Car Vacuum?

Whether you have little crumb-makers or big trash-leavers, many parents have experienced the frustration of their car looking like a tornado hit it after just a few days of toting kids around town. Most people don’t want to keep a clunky handheld vacuum in the trunk or frequently visit the car wash or gas station to clean out their cars. A built-in vacuum offers an incredibly convenient solution.

Which Cars Offer Built-in Vacuums?

The question is, actually, “Which new or used minivans offer built-in vacuums?” No other category of new vehicles in the U.S. currently offers this feature. Vacuum availability varies by model year and trim, so do some research before buying.

Chrysler Pacifica Stow’ n Vac in 2017-2026 Models

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan has offered its Stow’ n Vac built-in vacuum system since 2017. However, for the 2024-2026 model years, the feature is only available on the Pinnacle gas-powered trim. The Pacifica features class-leading tech, creative seating configurations, and lots of safety features. This is one vehicle that the whole family will love. Chrysler’s integrated Stow’ n Vac system can make quick work of cracker crumbs and dried dirt from muddy cleats.

Toyota Sienna SV100 Vac in 2016-2020 and 2025-2026 Models

This popular feature disappeared for several model years due to supplier shortages. However, the refreshed 2025 Toyota Sienna brought back what Toyota now simply calls the built-in vacuum. This feature is standard on the Platinum trim or available as an option on the Limited trim.

Honda Odyssey HondaVAC in 2014-2021 Models

The Honda Odyssey was the first minivan to offer a built-in vacuum, debuting HondaVAC for 2014. Honda discontinued the feature after its supplier went out of business in 2020, and as of 2026, it has not returned. Used-car shoppers can still find HondaVAC-equipped Odysseys, including the 2021 Honda Odyssey Elite and the 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey Touring and Elite trims.

In-car vacuums are not becoming an automotive industry standard. But we’re glad they’re still out there for parents who place a premium on quick cleanups. When children are involved, it’s often the little wins that count the most.
