Should You Consider Mazda?

While Mazda’s most well-known model is probably the sporty MX-5 Miata, the Japanese automaker makes a full range of highly competent sedans and SUVs. While its vehicles have always stood out for offering good refinement and excellent driving dynamics, the company has worked to move its brand even further upmarket in recent years, blurring the line between mainstream and luxury. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the company’s most compelling models.

Mazda CX-5

Mazda CX-5

The CX-5 is the brand’s compact SUV, and like the rest of the lineup, it offers great styling inside and out along with a sensible design and good driving dynamics. Power has traditionally come from a humble 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder putting out 187 horsepower, but new to the option list for 2019 is a 250-hp turbocharged motor, giving the CX-5 a powertrain to match its luxury car aesthetics. A diesel model has long been in Mazda’s plans, although details remain slim on when, or if, an oil-burning powertrain is set to join the CX-5’s model range. Find a Mazda CX-5 for sale

Mazda3

Mazda3

The Mazda3, available in either sedan or hatchback body styles, is all-new for 2019. The new Mazda3 wears a sharp, curvy design and is built on a new vehicle architecture. Additionally, the new Mazda3 will employ a new optional engine using Mazda’s Skyactiv-X engine technology, which is said to offer up to 30 percent better fuel economy than traditional engines, although official figures have yet to be announced. While the sedan segment is shrinking in favor of compact SUVs, expect the new Mazda3 to offer exceptional driving dynamics and, as is the theme here, a very refined experience overall. CX-9

CX-9

Mazda’s full-size 3-row crossover, the CX-9 was last fully redesigned for the 2016 model year. With room for seven, the CX-9 is great for families with kids looking for a slightly upscale alternative to likes of the Toyota Highlander or the Honda Pilot. The CX-9 comes with a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder — the same engine available in the Mazda6 and CX-5. The CX-9 was also the first vehicle to be offered with Mazda’s Signature trim, which we will touch on below. Find a Mazda CX-9 for sale

Signature Trims

Signature Trims

In line with Mazda’s efforts to move upmarket, the company has begun offering high-end "Signature" trim levels on the CX-5, the CX-9 and the Mazda6 sedan, with more expected to follow as the rest of the company’s lineup is revamped in the coming years. Mazda’s Signature trim level comes with supple brown Nappa leather, unique "Sen" wood trim, and UltraSuede and aluminum interior accents. While Mazda products offer great appointments regardless of trim level, the Signature trim levels serve to turn things up a notch, offering great value. Find a Mazda for sale

Autotrader Says …

As far as mainstream vehicles go, Mazda is probably one of the most exciting brands in the industry right now, as its products offer near-luxury levels of refinement at very reasonable prices. If style, luxury and great driving dynamics are things you’re looking for in a vehicle, you’ll likely find tremendous value in a Mazda, and the brand is certainly worth your consideration.
