2019 Ford Fusion Overview - The 2019 Ford Fusion offers a variety of trims and packages that could fit your needs. A 5-person midsize sedan that competes with the likes of the Honda Accord, Mazda6, and Toyota Camry, all of which got updates for the 2019 model year. To keep the Fusion competitive with this set, Ford updated the styling on the Fusion and offered more standard equipment than it had in the 2018 model. The 2019 Fusion comes with five engine options: a base 2.5-liter I4, a 2.0-liter I4, a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, a Hybrid option, and a plug-in Hybrid called the Fusion Energi. The big news for this model year of the Ford Fusion was the addition of Ford’s Co-Pilot360 Protect, which offers a standard suite of safety and driver-assist technologies, including automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), a blind-spot info system, lane-keeping assist, rearview camera, and automatic high beams. Here’s a breakdown of the variety of trims you can find on the 2019 Ford Fusion. Author: Abigail Bassett.

Which 2019 Ford Fusion offers the most safety? - The National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2019 Ford Fusion a 5-star safety rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives a good rating across the board, though some trims (non-LED lights) get a poor rating for headlight safety.

2019 Ford Fusion S - The 2019 Ford Fusion S is the base version of the Fusion for this model year, and it comes with a variety of features. This version gets the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine. The Fusion S gets LED taillamps, 16-inch steel wheels with painted covers, and daytime running lights. Inside it gets a 4.2-inch configurable driver’s display, two 12-volt power outlets, manual climate control, dual illuminated visor mirrors, power door locks, cloth interior with a rear 60/40 folding seat, a steering wheel that manually tilts and telescopes, power windows all around with one-touch up-and-down fronts, a rear window defroster, rain-sensing wipers, and a stereo with four speakers. You also get Ford’s Sync system which allows for voice commands, and a USB port for charging. Ford’s 360 Co-Pilot is included on all trims of the Ford Fusion, including the S, and includes automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian protection), blind-spot information (with cross-traffic alert), lane-keeping system, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, and auto high-beam headlights. You also get standard cruise control which you can access on the steering wheel. You can find Fusion S versions with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist system with Sync3, an upgraded version of the Ford Co-Pilot system. It includes adaptive cruise control, voice-activated navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports. Key features of the 2019 Ford Fusion S include:

Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 system: A desirable suite of safety and convenience features.

Tilt/telescoping wheel: Allows for more flexibility in getting your driving position just right.

2019 Ford Fusion SE - The SE trim builds on the S and adds a few different options, including available all-wheel drive with the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost. If you opt for the front-wheel-drive version, you can only get the 1.5-liter engine. There’s also a hybrid SE available. In the SE trim, you get the addition of a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddles on a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar, and a 6-way power front passenger seat. You also get two additional speakers inside (up from the 4 in the S). You also get dual-zone automatic climate control, a fold-down rear center armrest with cupholders, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. At this trim, you get the 8-inch infotainment screen as standard. You get auto stop-start (on the front-wheel-drive version only). The all-wheel-drive package comes with 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, heated front seats, and heated side-view mirrors. The hybrid comes with the upgraded Co-Pilot360 Assist package and includes adaptive cruise and automatic headlights. You can upgrade to the Co-Pilot360 Assist package and choose an SE appearance package that gets you blacked-out looks all around the exterior, light putty cloth seats with brown vinyl bolsters, and stone-colored stitching on armrests and seats. Key features of the 2019 Ford Fusion SE include:

Optional all-wheel-drive: A sedan with all-wheel drive can be a boon in cold climates.

Dual-zone automatic climate control: To keep you and your passengers happy.

Power front seats: To make long trips more comfortable.

2019 Ford Fusion SEL - The SEL builds on the SE trim and adds the 18-inch aluminum tires, LED headlights, heated auto-dimming side view driver’s mirror with position memory and integrated turn signals, remote start, and a universal garage door opener. You can opt for the 1.5-liter Ecoboost with start-stop technology or the hybrid engine at this trim. The hybrid SEL gets the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and the addition of a voice-activated touch screen, navigation with pinch to zoom, and available SiriusXM. In both versions, you can upgrade to Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist and get a power moonroof. Key features of the 2019 Ford Fusion SEL include:

LED headlights: These tend to be safer because they illuminate more completely.

Remote Start: For those days when you want your car to be ready to go when you climb in.

2019 Ford Fusion Titanium - While it may seem like the Titanium edition should be at the top of the Ford Fusion heap, it’s not. However, the Titanium is where you start to enter the semi-luxury arena in the 2019 Ford Fusion. You can opt for the 1.5-liter EcoBoost in front-wheel drive, the hybrid engine, or the Titanium Energi, the plug-in hybrid version. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) gets a CVT. You can get the non-hybrid Titanium trims in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This trim builds on SEL content and adds a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, rear seatbelt airbags, 19-inch wheels, a moonroof, and the Co-Pilot360 Assist as standard, which includes adaptive cruise with stop-and-go functionality. You also get sport seats trimmed in leather and a Sony stereo with 12 speakers and HD radio functionality. The Energi had a starting MSRP of $37,490, making it one of the most expensive Fusion models you could buy when new. It gets around 25 miles of electric-only range. Key features of the 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium include:

Heated steering wheel: If you live in a cold climate, this can keep your hands warm during the winter.

Heated and cooled front seats: Who doesn’t like to be warm or cool while driving or riding?

Adaptive Cruise Control: Great for stop-and-go traffic on the way to work.

A plug-in-hybrid version: For those who want to go a short distance using electricity only.

2019 Ford Fusion Sport - The Ford Fusion Sport sits at the top of the Fusion lineup with the 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine putting out 325 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The Sport is all-wheel drive and comes with a specially tuned suspension setup. The Sport also gets a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, 19-inch aluminum wheels, that voice-activated navigation system, HD radio with a CD player, a power moonroof, active noise canceling, and the upgraded CoPilot360 Assist system. Key features of the 2019 Ford Fusion Sport include:

V6 engine: More potent than any in the 2019 Fusion lineup.

All-wheel drive: It’s included at this trim level.
