2019 Honda Odyssey Overview - Since 1995, the Odyssey has been Honda’s entry in the quietly popular Minivan market. By 2019 the Odyssey was on its fifth generation, which began with the 2018 model year. The 2019 Odyssey is the most up-to-date version of this van, with all the features you expect from a modern family vehicle. The Odyssey seats up to eight passengers in three rows with a second-row bench seat or seven passengers with second-row bucket seats. The Odyssey offers 32.8 cubic feet behind the third-row seats, or 88.8 cubic feet when folding down the third row. The Odyssey provides 144.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all rear seats folded. All trim levels of the 2019 Odyssey are powered by Honda’s proven and reliable 3.5-liter V6 engine rated at 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Most trims carry a 9-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The top Touring and Elite trim levels use a 10-speed automatic, still driving the front wheels. There is no Odyssey with all-wheel drive. All trim levels of the 2019 Honda Odyssey are EPA-rated to return 19 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. Another thing to know about the 2019 Honda Odyssey is that it earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2019 Odyssey also earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Odyssey competes with other minivans such as the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager, Kia Carnival (formerly known as the Sedona), and Toyota Sienna. Honda keeps the Odyssey feature-rich, and along with Honda’s reputation for quality and reliability, the Odyssey remains popular with new and pre-owned buyers. If you buy a 2019 Odyssey through the HondaTrue Certified program, the original basic warranty is extended to 4 years/48,000 miles, or 12 months/12,000 miles if the original warranty has expired. A 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty applies from the original in-service date. Honda’s certified vehicles also receive two complimentary oil changes in the first year of ownership, roadside assistance, plus 90 days of Sirius/XM satellite radio. 2019 Honda Odyssey LX - The 2019 Odyssey LX is the base trim, offering a long list of standard features. This trim level rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and includes taillights with LED light bars and daytime running lights. The exterior includes a capless fuel filler. The Odyssey uses remote keyless entry and carries a security system. Inside, there’s seating for seven passengers on cool cloth upholstery. Second- and third-row passengers receive privacy glass side windows. The driver’s seat is 8-way power-adjustable, while the passenger seat is 4-way power-adjustable. The third-row seat is a 60/40 split for maximum flexibility. For technology, the Odyssey LX includes a 5-inch color LCD infotainment screen and a 160-watt audio system with seven speakers. There are two USB ports; one on the dash and one on the center console, as well as a 12-Volt receptacle in front and one in the cargo area. The system supports Bluetooth hands-free phone calling and music streaming. A 7-inch driver information display lives in the instrument panel, and a multi-angle rearview camera system is standard. Key features of the 2019 Honda Odyssey LX include:

Automatic climate control - set your desired temperature.

Power front seats - Adjust your seating position with a button.

Seating for 7 - Bring the whole family or the soccer team.

2019 Honda Odyssey EX - In addition to the features included in the base Honda Odyssey LX, the Odyssey EX comes with the HondaSensing suite of safety and driver assistance features. This package includes blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, automatic collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, and lane-departure warning, with a lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control follows the prevailing traffic speed, while automatic high beams make the Odyssey EX a courteous vehicle on the road. For busy families, the Odyssey EX adds power sliding side doors, walk-away auto-locking, and a 3-zone automatic climate system. In the second row, integrated sunshades help keep kids comfortable, and the second-row bench seat offers seating for a total of eight passengers. The rearview mirror is auto-dimming, and the mirrors automatically tilt down when you shift into reverse. The liftgate is powered and programmable at the EX-L level. Finally, second-row passengers get two more USB charging ports. Key features of the 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L include:

Leather upholstery - Heated leather seats add a touch of luxury to every trip.

Power liftgate - Another popular convenience item that helps with busy families.

As the trim name implies, onboard GPS navigation is included, along with the CabinTalk in-car public address system, for projecting the driver’s voice back to the third row. This RES in this trim stands for the 10.2-inch Rear Entertainment System, with an onboard Blu-Ray/DVD player and built-in streaming apps. The front row receives a 115-volt power outlet and an HDMI port for the entertainment system. Key features of the 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L Navi/RES include:

2019 Honda Odyssey Touring - The 2019 Honda Odyssey Touring really gets into the luxury minivan segment. This trim builds on the EX-L Navi/RES trim by adding the 10-speed automatic transmission. The headlights and fog lights are LED, and the power liftgate receives hands-free functionality. Family-friendly features on the Odyssey Touring include a HondaVAC system (a vacuum cleaner) in the back. With hose attachments, you can clean up spills in the vehicle while on the road. A CabinWatch rear seat monitor allows front-seat passengers to watch the second and third rows without turning around. The Odyssey Touring also has its own 4G/LTE data capability and can create a Wi-Fi hot spot in the van, requiring an additional AT&T data plan. Key features of the 2019 Honda Odyssey Touring include:

HondaVAC - Onboard vacuum cleaner helps keep things tidy.

CabinWatch - In-car cameras show front seat passengers what’s happening in the back.

Hands-free liftgate - Foot gestures open the liftgate automatically.

2019 Honda Odyssey Elite - The 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite is the top of the line for this model year.
