I never understood the hate for the original Acura ZDX. Especially since many customers today want a coupe-like SUV, and that’s exactly what the ZDX delivered. To say it was ahead of its time is an understatement. Fast forward a few years, though, and Acura has revived the ZDX nameplate. This time it’s being applied to a fully electric SUV that features less controversial styling but a whole heaping of Acura-minded performance. Say hello to the 2024 Acura ZDX and the ZDX Type S.

<h4>What Is the 2024 Acura ZDX?</h4>

A year ago, Acura invited us to take a look at its Precision EV concept. That model was a display piece to showcase the upcoming design language we can expect to filter into the rest of the family over time. Well, time marches forward, so here’s the first one to wear those lines: the new ZDX.

<h4>What Does the 2024 Acura ZDX Look Like?</h4>

Size-wise, the ZDX sits in a similar space to Cadillac’s Lyriq. That’s because both ride on the GM Ultium platform. This is a joint venture vehicle to get Acura and Honda moving forward before bringing out their new scalable electric platform. The Precision EV Concept has turned the ZDX into a futuristic MDX. The aggressive lines come off the hood, and the Acura Jewel-Eye headlights stretch from the grille back into the fenders. There’s nothing offensive about this design. It’s a nice clean look with great curves, sculpting in the lower section of the doors, and a taut shoulder line.

At each corner, the base ZDX A-Spec model wears 20 x 9-inch alloy wheels. Jump to the Type S, though, and the standard roller is a 22 x 9.5-inch wheel. Each model wears all seasons as standard, but you can spec a set of 275-section width summers on the Type S, which is pretty cool. Also, that Type S gets serious stopping power. While the A-Spec should be fine with 12.6-inch front and 13.5-inch rear rotors, the Type S gets Brembos with massive 15.6-inch front rotors clamped down on by a set of 6-piston calipers.

<h4>What Are the Performance Specs and Range of the 2024 Acura ZDX?</h4>

More than brakes and a wheel-tire setup separate these two variants. The A-Spec comes standard with a single motor at the rear. That setup is good for around 340 horsepower and a driving range estimated at 325 miles. You can opt for an all-wheel drive (AWD) dual-motor package on the A-Spec, but Acura hasn’t released a power output figure for that one. Jump to the Type S, however, and this one is dual-motor only. It delivers an extremely healthy 500 hp. The range is estimated to dip to 288 miles, which is still pretty strong considering the extra oomph on tap. The Type S also gets height-adjustable air suspension, sport-tuned adaptive dampers, and a Sport driving mode that maximizes motor responsiveness for proper EV-off-the-line acceleration. All models of the ZDX will utilize a 102-kWh battery pack. And all can charge up at speeds up to 190 kW. That should next you 81 miles of range in just 10 minutes on the single-motor A-spec model.

<h4>What Technology Features Come on the 2024 Acura ZDX?</h4>

On the inside, you get an 11-inch digital gauge cluster paired with an 11.3-inch center screen. The good news here, too, unlike with upcoming GM stuff, is that the ZDX has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a suite of built-in Google items as well. If you like audio, this thing comes well-equipped there, too, which isn’t surprising for an Acura product. The ZDX is outfitted with a Bang and Olufsen setup that both brands call a “Luxury Audio” experience. What does that mean? For starters, it means 18 speakers, 14 amplified channels, a sub, and something B&amp;O’s 3D sound control and Acoustic Lens technology.

I don’t know what that jargon means, but I do understand that you get four distinct audio moods: Bright, Energetic, Warm, and Relaxed. And that Bang &amp; Olufsen make sure the sounds are properly separated and crisp, which is what I want from a good sound system. Even better? It’s the standard audio system on all ZDX models. Another interesting feature for this ZDX is the introduction of Acura Watch 360+. It comes on the Type S and allows for hands-free driving on up to 400,000 miles of compatible roads. If that sounds familiar, that’s because it’s basically Acura’s re-branded version of GM’s Super Cruise — a great system.

<h4>How Much Is the 2024 Acura ZDX?</h4>

So how much will all of this cost? You can expect the single-motor rear-drive ZDX A-Spec to start right around $60,000. The 500-hp Type S should be closer to or just over $70k. Customer deliveries should begin early on in 2024.
