The BMW F87 M2 Competition takes a competent sports car and turns up the power and reliability another notch. One of the most significant differences between the base model BMW M2 and an M2 Competition is the more powerful S55 engine that is typically only found under the hood of the M3 and M4. The more robust engine features a closed deck block and effortlessly handles the additional power (40 HP / 63 LB-FT).

With 405 HP / 406 LB-FT and a top speed of 174 MPH with the optional M Drivers Package, the F87 M2 needs some serious brakes to slow down safely and repeatedly at high speeds. The massive 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brakes will have no trouble keeping up with the extreme track driving conditions.

The M2 comes standard with a manual transmission, and an optional M DCT transmission is also available. BMW only makes the M2 in an RWD configuration regardless of the transmission type. The manual transmission is the obvious choice for car enthusiasts who don't mind trading a bit of acceleration for a more engaging drive on the twisty back roads. The M2 competition manual can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, and the M2 Competition DCT does the sprint from 0-60 in 4 seconds flat.
