If you’re on a tight budget and are looking to buy a used, cheap car for $6,000 or less, you’ll want to keep in mind the following: vehicles in this price range will likely have between 100,000 and 275,000 miles, could be between 10-25+ years old, will have interior and exterior cosmetic issues, and some may even have body damage or have been in an <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/car-shopping/should-you-buy-a-car-thats-been-in-an-accident" target="_blank">accident</a> although are still in running condition. Some of these vehicles may even have a <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/car-shopping/rebuilt-title-vs-salvage-title-whats-difference-281474979846034" target="_blank">salvage or rebuilt title</a> so be sure to do your due diligence by asking a lot of questions about the car's history. If the car is 5 years old or newer, has less than 50,000 miles but is priced under $6,000, that may be a red flag of an underlying issue. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
