The Kia Rio debuted in 2001 as a budget-friendly, economical car aimed at capturing first-time or younger car owners or those who were looking for an affordable, fuel-efficient, modern, and tech-savvy car. Powered by a modest four-cylinder engine capable of producing between 110-138 horsepower (depending on model year), the Rio is available with either a manual and automatic six-speed transmission. This allows the the Rio to achieve up to a respectable 38-40 miles per gallon in fuel efficiency. Although compact, depending on what version of the Rio you buy, it delivers plenty of safety and technology features such as USB/auxiliary inputs, infotainment system, back-up rear-view camera, push-button starting with a smart key, front side impact and front and rear side curtain airbags along with heated front seats. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay became standard for the <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/2020/kia/rio" target="_blank">2020 model year of the Rio</a>. In 2021, the Rio's design was refreshed and new tech features were added including an 8-inch infotainment display with wireless Android/Apple smart phone connectivity and various driver-assistance features.
