The Toyota Highlander is all about the family. Its roomy interior, excellent 2024 Toyota Highlanderty scores, and wide range of trims help it fit most budgets. At the same time, its well-earned reputation for reliability and strong resale speaks volumes about its value. With seating for up to eight people, the Highlander rivals some full-size SUVs, although space behind the third row can be snug. There are five trims: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum. They all use the same 265-horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and offer the option of all-wheel drive. What's New for 2024:

The L trim is dropped from the lineup, leaving the LE as the entry-level model. XLE and higher trims gain a hands-free power liftgate. 


<a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/new-cars/2024/toyota/highlander/le">2024 Toyota Highlander LE</a>: The 8-passenger LE is the least expensive way to get into a Toyota Highlander. It has a nice set of safety and comfort amenities, making it a rather attractive choice. Circling the exterior, we find LED headlights, heated side mirrors, a power liftgate, front wiper de-icers, and 18-inch alloy wheels. A proximity keyless entry system unlocks the doors when touching the handle and the liftgate to open hands free. On the safety front, the LE has a robust driver assist suit, including forward collision warning and avoidance, lane departure warning, full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. A blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard. The LE cabin features a power driver’s seat, second and third-row bench seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, five USB ports, and an 8-inch color touchscreen granting access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and Amazon Alexa. <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/toyota">Toyota</a> Connected Services is also included in a paid subscription.

The XLE ditches the second-row bench seat in favor of the captain’s chairs, which reduces the total passenger count to seven. However, the bench seat can be added back. XLE standard equipment includes a hands-free power liftgate, a power moonroof, a wireless charging pad, heated front seats, a power passenger seat, and faux-leather SofTex upholstery. Upgrades include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and Driver Easy Speak, which amplifies the driver’s voice through the speakers, making it easy to converse with rear-seat passengers.

<a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/new-cars/2024/toyota/highlander/xse">2024 Toyota Highlander XSE</a>: The XSE brings a sporty feel to the Highlander, touting racy 20-inch black alloy wheels, a mesh front grille, black roof rails, and a lower front spoiler. Upgrades for the XSE include ambient interior lighting and a sport suspension featuring high-rate springs, a rear stabilizer bar, and low-friction shocks. Adding AWD brings Active Torque Vectoring and Driveline Disconnect. Active Torque Vectoring actively manages torque distribution between left and right wheels, helping improve performance when cornering or encountering slippery road conditions. Driveline Disconnect automatically disconnects the driveline to the rear wheels, helping save on fuel when AWD isn’t needed. Other options include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and an 11-speaker JBL sound system.

There’s a 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster matching the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Limited also gains power-folding side mirrors with puddle lights and a reverse tilt-down feature. Leather upholstery, navigation, JBL audio, heated and ventilated front seats join the front and rear parking sensors with rear automatic braking. The driver enjoys 2-position memory for the seat and mirrors, and a heated steering wheel keeps things comfy in winter. Rounding out the Limited’s standard equipment are LED fog lights, Driver Easy Speak, 20-inch wheels, and acoustic front side windows. Additional options include a Panoramic View Monitor with 360-degree views and a free-of-charge second-row bench seat.

It builds off the Limited, adding unique features such as heated second-row seats, adaptive headlights that swivel in the direction of the steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and the 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor with Overhead View. Also included are illuminated front-door metal scuff plates, rain-sensing wipers, and a 10-inch color head-up display. There are no factory options.
