The 2024 Toyota Prius Prime borrows the sleek body of the Prius Hybrid (reviewed separately) and adds plug-in hybrid componentry, which means the car travels up to 44 miles solely on electric power. Unlike the hybrid, the Prime can be plugged in and charged overnight. If your daily commute is less than 40 miles round trip, you may never have to fill up with gas. The Prius Prime costs more than the Prius, but it shares much of the same content spread over three trims: SE, XSE, and XSE Premium. However, all-wheel drive is not available on the Prime.

The 2024 Toyota Prius Prime PHEV carries over with no significant changes.

Standard on the SE is the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) driver-assist suite, highlights of which include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, front cross-traffic detection, and automatic high-beam headlights. There’s also a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic detection, and Traffic Jam Assist. Standard amenities include rain-sensing wipers, a proximity keyless entry system, a heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment setup features an 8-inch touchscreen hosting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/toyota">Toyota</a> Connected Services. Optional on SE are front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

Other options include a fixed glass roof and an upgraded 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen.
