Known for their safety features, you'll regularly see most Imprezas equipped with front, front side-impact, side-curtain and driver’s-knee airbags as well as with electronic traction and stability control, a tire-pressure monitor, a rearview monitor and, on manual models, incline-start assist. The Impreza has regularly scored high marks for safety and crash ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Potential buyers shouldn't be expecting a thrilling driving experience and the continuously variable automatic transmission can be a bit hit or miss which translate into a herky-jerky ride. Newer models of the Impreza now come with plenty of technology features such as Android Auto / Apple CarPlay smart phone integration, and starting in 2015 all Imprezas included their patented EyeSight active safety suite which includes blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and automatic forward-collision braking. Subaru did improve the suspension and chassis with the 2018 model year, leading to an improved ride and handling.
