Initially badged the T Mulliner Park Ward Convertible just as the Silver Shadow, it was later renamed Corniche in conjunction with Rolls-Royce s naming scheme in 1971. It wasn t until the Corniche II s release in 1986 that Bentleys received their own name Continental.  Distinguished by Bentley s traditional grille   this time with body-color vanes   and special Bentley-specific alloy wheels, the Continental is otherwise essentially identical to its Rolls-Royce counterpart. However, the Rolls-Royce sold in greater numbers, as only 194 of the first series Continentals were produced in comparison to 1,228 Corniche IIs.
