1999 BMW 323i Convertible For Sale This 1999 BMW 323i is a final-year example of the E36 convertible, the open-top version of a 3 Series generation that earned a strong enthusiast following and landed on Car and Driver's 10Best list every year it was sold. Finished in white over gray leather with a black power soft top, it pairs the drop-top body with BMW's naturally aspirated inline-six and rear-wheel drive, the combination that makes these 90s 3 Series so well regarded today.Power comes from the 2.5-liter M52 inline-six, rated at roughly 168 horsepower and driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic. Despite the "323" badge, this is a 2.5-liter engine, as BMW used the number to mark a power class rather than displacement. The M52 uses single-VANOS variable valve timing on the intake camshaft and runs naturally aspirated, giving it the smooth, linear delivery and free-revving character BMW's straight-sixes built their reputation on. The M52 family was recognized on Ward's 10 Best Engines list during its production run and remains a well-understood, well-supported platform among BMW enthusiasts. The E36 introduced a multi-link rear suspension that was a real step forward for the 3 Series, and paired with rear-wheel drive and balanced weight distribution, it is a big part of why the chassis still feels so connected to drive. Inside, the gray leather interior is paired with a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a desirable factory upgrade over the standard stereo. The black soft top is power operated and works as it should, raising and lowering the way it did when the car left the factory. With 1999 marking the end of the E36 convertible before the E46 took over, clean six-cylinder examples like this one hold steady appeal for buyers after an analog, naturally aspirated 90s BMW in the open-air body style.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified, and luxury vehicles.
