After many months of searching, 8 years ago I found an E61 5-series worth restoring to my standards. This one ticked all the boxes; original window sticker, Southern car with no rust, clean CarFax with no accident history, and the first 5 years had low annual mileage (&lt;5000 miles) which tells me this was a sunny day car. Original delivery was at the BMW Performance Center in SC. Ordered in the rare exterior color Olivin Metallic with Premium, Cold Weather and Sports Packages and then topped off with rear shades, parking sensors (PDC), Heads-Up Display, Navigation and optional Style 123 18 alloy rims. Lastly, add Comfort Access and Night Vision. Folks, we have a $67,000+ Sport Wagon that needs my attention. I specifically wanted the naturally aspirated inline 3.0L 6-cylinder N52 engine due to its simplicity and reputation for reliability (I saw a locally advertised 530xiT with over 325k miles!). Model year 2007 marked the last of this engine for North America before moving to the complexity of a high-pressure direct fuel injection system combined with dual turbo chargers in the N54 engine.<br>Over the past 7000 miles I've logged all the restoration and upgrades in an Excel file, totaling almost $15,000. Notable OEM retrofits include navigation components from the 2010 model year (hard drive based CIC system), Logic7 DSP sound system and the M-Aerodynamic kit for the vehicle exterior.
