Ford produced only 2,000 Mystic Cobras for 1996, wearing one of the most recognizable color-shifting factory finishes of the era. But that's not what makes this particular car extraordinary. This Cobra has had ONE owner since 1996. The original owner purchased it new, garage kept it, maintained it, and preserved it for nearly three decades. Today it remains completely stock and unmodified, shows only 60,000 original miles, and carries a Clean Carfax with no accident history. In a world where most surviving SN95 Cobras have passed through numerous owners, been modified, returned to stock, or simply lived very different lives, finding one with this combination of provenance and originality is remarkable. Mystic For 1996, Ford offered the SVT Cobra in the incredible Mystic Clearcoat Metallic, a color-shifting finish that dramatically changes depending on lighting and viewing angle. Blue / Purple / Green / Bronze It was outrageous in 1996 and remains one of the most recognizable factory finishes ever applied to a Mustang. Only 2,000 SVT Cobras received Mystic paint, making these cars special from the very beginning. The Beginning Of The Modular Cobra 1996 marked the arrival of Ford's new modular V8 architecture in the Mustang, but SVT didn't simply install the GT's version. The Cobra received a 4.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 producing 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, paired with a proper manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. These engines were special pieces in their own right, assembled using two-person teams with each engine built from start to finish before being signed off. It was a completely different personality from the pushrod Cobras that preceded it and represented the beginning of an engine lineage that would become enormously important to Ford performance.
