The 2019 MINI Hardtop 4 Door Cooper S packs a surprising amount of personality, performance and premium equipment into a compact footprint. Finished in Chili Red with a contrasting white roof and mirror caps over Carbon Black MINI Yours Lounge leather, this Cooper S has exactly the kind of color combination that suits the MINI design bold without being overdone, and instantly recognizable. Under the hood is MINI s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with the Sport automatic transmission. The Cooper S already has a noticeably more energetic feel than the standard Cooper, and this particular car takes that a step further with Adaptive Suspension, Performance Control and MINI Driving Modes. It feels light, responsive and genuinely enjoyable around town, while still being comfortable enough for commuting and longer highway drives. This example is also very well equipped. Inside, it features MINI Yours Lounge leather in Carbon Black, heated front Sport seats, a John Cooper Works leather steering wheel, Piano Black interior trim, Glowing Red Colour Line accents, an anthracite headliner and the MINI Excitement Package. The panoramic glass roof opens up the cabin, while automatic climate control, Comfort Access and the integrated garage-door opener add everyday convenience. Technology is another strong point. Equipment includes MINI Navigation, Connected Navigation Plus, Real-Time Traffic Information, Apple CarPlay preparation, wireless phone charging, MINI Connected services and the upgraded Harman Kardon sound system. It also has the MINI Head-Up Display, keeping important driving information directly in the driver s line of sight. Driver-assistance equipment is unusually strong for a MINI of this size and year. This Cooper S is equipped with Active Cruise Control, Driving Assistant, Park Assist, a reversing camera and front and rear Park Distance Control. LED headlights, LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic-dimming mirrors round out a very complete package. The exterior is finished with black Victory Spoke alloy wheels, Piano Black exterior trim, white roof and mirror caps, roof rails and the signature Chili Red paint. The combination gives the car a sporty factory look without trying too hard, and the four-door layout makes it considerably easier to live with than the traditional two-door MINI. That practicality is a big part of the appeal. You still get the quick steering, compact size and playful character people expect from a Cooper S, but with easier rear-seat access, useful cargo space and enough comfort and technology to make it a legitimate everyday car. For someone looking for a small hatchback that feels different from the usual commuter car, this Cooper S delivers a much more engaging experience while still offering the features expected from a premium vehicle.
