There are plenty of Ford Thunderbirds still out there. Finding one 21 years later with only 8,279 original miles and preserved like this is another story. This beautiful 2005 Ford Thunderbird is finished in elegant Evening Black over Cashmere leather with a Cashmere power convertible top and matching Evening Black removable porthole hardtop. As the final model year of Ford's retro-styled Thunderbirdand the Thunderbird's 50th anniversary yearit represents the end of an era, and this particular example has been exceptionally well preserved. Under the hood is Ford's 3.9-liter DOHC V8 producing 280 horsepower, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. These cars were designed from the beginning as comfortable personal luxury roadsters rather than all-out sports cars, and more than two decades later that's still exactly where they shine: V8 power, rear-wheel drive, two seats and the ability to completely change the personality of the car depending on which top you choose. The condition of this Thunderbird is exactly what you would expect from the mileage. The Evening Black paint is deep and beautiful, the Cashmere leather interior shows remarkably little use, and the steering wheel, controls, carpeting and trim have all been exceptionally well preserved. Under the hood remains clean and original in appearance, while underneath the car tells the same storythe chassis, suspension, exhaust and factory finishes are remarkably clean and untouched for a vehicle of this age. And this one is complete. It comes with both the Cashmere power soft top and matching Evening Black removable hardtop with porthole windows, along with the factory-style hardtop stand and hardtop installation/removal tool. It also includes the owner's books and literature, multiple keys and remotes, original tags and an impressive collection of documentation that has remained with the car. For 2005, every Thunderbird celebrated the model's 50th anniversary, and it would also prove to be the final production year of this generation. This is not the separate 1,500-car Cashmere 50th Anniversary Special Edition; rather, it is a beautifully preserved standard 2005 Thunderbird wearing its factory 50th Anniversary badging. What we especially like about this car is that it hasn't been cosmetically reinvented to look like a low-mileage Thunderbird. It simply is one. The engine compartment, interior and remarkably clean underside all tell the same story as the odometer. There are lower-priced Thunderbirds available. There are also plenty with 40,000, 60,000 or 80,000 miles. But if you're looking for an exceptional final-year example with only 8,279 original miles, a beautiful color combination, both tops and all the right accessories and documentation, finding another one quite like this becomes considerably more difficult. 8,279 original miles. V8 power. Both tops. Final-year Thunderbird. Beautifully preserved and ready to enjoy.
