It delivers a strong blend of torque and efficiency that makes it genuinely capable for both daily commuting and weekend hauling. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift manual control, you have precise gear selection when you need it whether that's climbing the Sierra Nevada foothills or navigating surface streets in Fresno. ==== 4WD Capability ==== Four-wheel drive gives this Ranger a significant edge over 2WD competitors. Whether you're heading up into the Kings Canyon area, working a job site off the beaten path, or dealing with unexpected wet roads through the San Joaquin Valley, 4WD adds real peace of mind. The Ranger's terrain management system makes switching between drive modes straightforward and intuitive. ===== Ford Ranger XL Features and Interior ===== The XL trim is Ford's work-focused configuration designed to be functional, durable, and easy to maintain. You get a full SuperCrew cab with four doors and meaningful rear seat space, which separates this Ranger from smaller single-cab competitors. The 5-foot bed is well-suited for hauling gear, equipment, or cargo without going full-size truck. Inside, the XL keeps things clean and practical. Ford's SYNC infotainment system provides connectivity, and the cab is designed to handle real-world use without worrying too much about wear on premium materials. For contractors, outdoor workers, or buyers who just want a capable truck without paying for features they don't need, the XL trim hits the right balance. ===== Ford Ranger Reliability and Ownership ===== The 2022 Ford Ranger earns solid marks across reliability surveys and owner forums. The 2.3L EcoBoost has proven itself over several model years with consistent performance and manageable maintenance costs. Common owner feedback highlights the engine's strong low-end torque, the smooth 10-speed transmission, and the truck's overall toughness in varied conditions. When buying a higher-mileage Ranger like this one, it's smart to review service records, inspect the cooling system, check for any transmission fluid history, and look at the condition of the front axle components given the 4WD system.
