1989 Porsche 911 Speedster | 68,000 Miles | 25-Year Enthusiast Ownership | California History The 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster is one of the defining cars of the air-cooled era. Its low windshield, wide rear bodywork, and unmistakable twin-hump top cover give it a presence unlike any other classic 911. This Silver Metallic over gray leather example adds something equally important: 25 years with the same Porsche enthusiast owner, California registration history from new, extensive records, and substantial recent mechanical work. Available at Porsche San Francisco, part of indiGO Auto Group, this Speedster shows approximately 68,000 miles. It is one of just 823 examples delivered to the United States for 1989. Behind the driver sits Porsche s 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six, paired with the desirable G50 five-speed manual transaxle. It s the mechanical, connected driving experience that makes the final 3.2-liter Carrera-era cars so sought after. Extensive work by Porsche specialists This Speedster has received significant attention where it matters most. Elephant Racing performed a comprehensive suspension and brake rebuild, addressing the systems at the heart of how the car steers, handles, and stops. Additional work was performed by Gunter Feldmeier at Porsche San Francisco and is supported by service records. It includes: New genuine Porsche replacement soft top Replacement of the clutch assembly Replacement of the camshafts Replacement of fuel lines and impulse/reference sensors Replacement of all belts and engine-compartment insulation Major 30,000-mile maintenance service Brake fluid exchange Porsche Classic Vehicle Diagnostic These are meaningful investments in the car s driving experience and continued care. Buyers are welcome to review the available records to understand the work performed. Classic Speedster design The Speedster combines a shortened windshield and side windows with wide rear bodywork shared with the contemporary 911 Turbo. Its fiberglass twin-hump cover conceals the folding soft top and creates the profile that made this model an instant Porsche icon. The new genuine Porsche top is a particularly valuable recent addition. Silver Metallic paint suits the Speedster s clean lines, while 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels complete its period-correct appearance. Other exterior details include integrated fog lights, rear bumperettes, and a single exhaust outlet. Inside, the dedicated two-seat cabin is finished in gray, with leather power-adjustable seats that were replaced approximately 10 years ago, plus matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes a short-throw shifter, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD-based stereo. Ownership and documentation The car has been California registered since new and has remained with its current Porsche enthusiast owner for 25 years. It is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owner s manual, service records, car cover, clean Carfax report, and clean California title. A 1989 Speedster is rare by production alone. What makes this one especially compelling is the combination of long-term ownership, documented California history, approximately 68,000 miles, and major recent work by Elephant Racing and Porsche San Francisco. It is a car with a story a serious buyer can examine, and a driving experience that deserves to be felt.
