Introduced in the early 1990s, the Mitsubishi 3000GT represented the brand's ambitious entry into the era's rapidly evolving Japanese performance-car market. The range-topping VR-4 combined a twin-turbocharged V6 with a full-time all-wheel-drive system and advanced technology that included four-wheel steering, electronically controlled suspension, and active aerodynamic components. Its combination of performance, distinctive styling, pop-up headlights, and technical complexity placed it alongside celebrated contemporaries such as the Toyota Supra, Nissan 300ZX, and Mazda RX-7. Early first-generation examples like this 1993 model retain the unmistakable styling and technology that helped establish the 3000GT VR-4 as one of Mitsubishi's most memorable performance cars.
