The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro stands out in a sea of cloned sedans and overly abundant SUVs. Along with rivals the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, it represents the last remnants of a bygone automotive era, a time when American muscle was all the rage, offering power, styling, and performance at prices anyone could afford.
That same mission carries on today, with the most basic Camaro priced in the mid $20,000 range. Buyers can opt for a choice between 4-, 6- or 8-cylinder engines, all with the option of manual or automatic transmission.
Whether it’s the sporty coupe or open-air convertible, the Camaro promises passionate performance and exhilarating speed. Its styling may be too over-the-top for some, especially fans of high-end European performance coupes. But then again, good luck trying to find a Porsche, Ferrari, or BMW with 455 horsepower and a $35,000 price tag.
2022 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS (Starting at $25,000)
As the entry-level Camaro, the 1LS trim is shockingly affordable. Offered only in coupe form, $25,000 gets you a 275-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential. The manual features a hill-hold feature to prevent the car from rolling back on a hill.
An 8-speed automatic is optional, and both transmissions come with Driver Mode Selector with Tour, Sport, Snow, and Ice settings. The Camaro’s limited-slip differential gets deleted when ordering the automatic transmission.
That’s a pretty impressive set of features just by themselves, but the 1LS has so much more.
Handsome 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored power mirrors, and intermittent wipers are all standard, as is a sport suspension, dual exhaust, and a tire-inflator kit replacing the traditional spare tire.
The Camaro 1LS lacks modern-day driver-assist systems. To get them, you’ll have to move up to the 3LT. However, there is a full complement of airbags, electronic traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a tire-pressure monitor. Tire Fill Alert is also standard. When inflating a tire, the system uses the car’s side marker lights and horn to signal when you’ve reached the proper pressure.
Inside the 1LS, you’ll find a set of sport bucket seats with an 8-way power driver’s seat, single-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and a folding rear seat.
Power windows and door locks are standard, but a proximity key fob is an unexpected perk. Having the key fob in your possession is all that’s needed to unlock the doors and start the car.
Other standard features include cruise control, an automatic trunk release, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, plus a color driver information center.
Covering entertainment duties is Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system that includes a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for phone and music streaming, and six speakers. Through GM’s OnStar connected services, customers can upgrade to host a Wi-Fi Hotspot. A rear backup camera is also part of the package.
Options for the Camaro 1LS are limited to a few visual upgrade packages, such as the Red Accent Exterior Package. Other options of interest include performance upgrades like a six-piston Brembo brake package.
With the $1,195 destination fee, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS sells for $26,195. With no money down, the monthly payment on a 60-month loan at 3% financing comes to $471. See 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS models for sale

Standard driver assists include forward collision alert, a blind-spot monitor with lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Keep in mind that forward collision alert is not the same thing as automatic emergency braking. It can warn the driver to take action but cannot slow or stop the vehicle.
Optional equipment upgrades for the 3LT mirror those of the 1LT and 2LT, but there are a few exceptions. 3LT buyers can upgrade their infotainment system with navigation and add illuminated footwells.
With the $1,195 destination fee, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT coupe sells for $32,695. On a zero-down loan for 60-months at 3% financing, the monthly payment comes to $587, or just $125 more each month than the 1LT. See 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT models for sale

- Blind-Zone Alert – monitors the Camaro’s blind spots and warns of possible danger when changing lanes.
- Heated steering wheel – makes it easier to grip the wheel on cold winter mornings.
- Head-up display – projects essential data, such as speed, g-force, and turn-by-turn navigation, onto the windshield directly within the driver’s line of sight.
2022 Chevrolet Camaro LT1 ($34,000, coupe) ($40,000, convertible)

Think of the LT1 as a 1LT with the performance attributes of an SS but not the $40,000-plus price tag. It’s a purist’s sports car, big on performance with minimal fluff.
