2022 Chevrolet Trax: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2022 Chevrolet Trax struggles in the face of newer and better-equipped competition.

Sub-compact SUVs such as the Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and even its own sibling the Chevrolet Trailblazer outrank the Trax in virtually all areas.

The Trax is particularly deficient in terms of standard or available safety equipment, a serious consideration for many consumers.

On the plus side, the Trax can be ordered with all-wheel drive (AWD), which is an appealing option for snowbelt dwellers and is lacking on some rivals.

For 2022, the Trax is only offered in two trim levels, although Chevrolet does offer a number of options and packages to upgrade the sparsely equipped models. Find a Chevrolet Trax for sale

2022 Chevrolet Trax LS (starting at $21,400)

The Trax’s SUV body style seats five, runs on 16-inch wheels, and is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission directs the engine’s 155 horsepower to the front wheels.

Both the LS and higher LT trims can be ordered with AWD for an extra $620.

Included in the base specification is air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen, 6-speaker audio system, cloth seat trim, and a 60/40 split rear bench seat. The Trax is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There are various options for the LS. A tint and cruise package for $495 includes tinted rear windows and liftgate glass, as well as cruise control. Other packages include remote start, plus accessories such as cargo/floor liners and roof rack cross rails.

Standard safety features on the LS are limited to airbags and vehicle stability control.

We strongly recommend stepping up to the LT trim to get the best out of the Trax.

Adding in the $1,195 destination fee, the Trax LS sticker comes to $22,595. Given 3% financing over 60 months and no down payment, that would produce a monthly payment of $387. Find a Chevrolet Trax LS for sale

2022 Chevrolet Trax LS includes:

  • Smartphone compatibility – Trax works with Apple CarPay and Android Auto
  • Dashboard touchscreen – 7-inch center screen is welcome
  • All-wheel drive (AWD) capability – AWD is available for modest upcharge

 2022 Chevrolet Trax LT ($23,820)

Moving to the LT trim adds cruise control as well as remote start, LED daytime running lights, heated door mirrors, and a storage drawer under the front passenger seat.

Three special edition versions of the Trax LT are available: Midnight ($470), Sport ($475), and Redline ($995). All these editions come with 18-inch black wheels and various exterior trim pieces.

A convenience package for $450 includes a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and leather-wrapped steering wheel. For an additional $650, the premium seat package adds to the convenience package with faux leather seat trim, and heated front seats.

If you opt for the convenience package, you can also select the Driver Confidence package for $495, which adds several important safety systems. These include blind-spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking assist. On top of this, the package includes 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

If we stick with the same 60-month loan at 3% financing as used for the LS, a Trax LT would cost an extra $32 per month. Find a Chevrolet Trax LT for sale
