The 2022 Infiniti Q50 is one of a shrinking number of performance-oriented luxury sport sedans. It rivals such legends as the BMW 3 Series, as well as newcomers like the Genesis G70.
You won’t find a hybrid or electric version, nor will you find the same cutting-edge cabin technology as in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class or Tesla Model 3. But the Q50 has a simple elegance to it. Its powerful engine lineup, available all-wheel drive, adept handling, and generous standard content make it a sedan worthy of a test drive, and its pricing puts it squarely in the realm of possibilities.
For 2022, Infiniti has simplified the Q50 lineup, eliminating option packages and most standalone options.
2022 Infiniti Q50 Luxe (starting at $42,100)
The 2022 Infiniti Q50 Luxe is starting at $42,100.
The Luxe trim is the first step in the 2022 Infiniti Q50’s three-trim ladder. It’s a well-equipped sedan, with a 300-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6, a 7-speed automatic with manual shift mode and downshift rev-matching, and available all-wheel drive.
Mechanical features of note include hill start assist that keeps the vehicle from rolling backward when stopped on a hill. Active Trace Control adjusts engine torque and braking for improved cornering with less understeer.
The Q50 Luxe rides on 18-inch alloy wheels surrounded by all-season run-flat tires. Run flats allow the car to be driven a short distance without air in the tire, thus eliminated the need for a spare. A tire-pressure monitoring system that tracks all four tires independently and a tire fill alert system that signals to stop airing up the tires when reaching the proper pressure come standard.
The Luxe includes automatic on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lights, and power-folding heated side mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature. Also included are rain-sensing wipers, an acoustic windshield, and a power moonroof. Infiniti’s Intelligent Key proximity key fob allows unlocking the doors by simply touching the handle and can lower the windows when outside the car. Intelligent Key also enables the push-button starter.
Front door handle courtesy lights and dual chrome exhaust tips complete the Q50’s handsome exterior.
Moving to the cabin, you’ll find leather upholstery and textured aluminum interior accents, heated front seats, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar and 2-person memory. The passenger seat is also 8-way power-adjustable but doesn’t include lumbar support.
The Q50’s driver’s seat includes an entry/exit system that automatically moves the seat back and the steering wheel up each time the driver enters or exits the vehicle. Rear air vents come standard, and the rear seat features a 60/40 split that folds down separately or together.
Luxury touches include a leather-wrapped power-adjustable heated tilt/telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, one-touch up/down power windows, and electroluminescent analog gauges.
The Q50’s center cluster features dual color LCD touch screens, 8-inches for the upper and a 7-inch screen for the lower. The upper touch screen serves as the infotainment hub, with access to various apps. It also serves as the view screen for the AroundView Monitor with Moving Object Detection. The smaller screen below is the car’s information hub and climate control panel, with redundant hard buttons for the climate, audio, heated seats, and volume adjustment.
On the audio front, the Q50 comes standard with a 16-speaker Bose Centerpoint surround system. The system pairs with Infiniti’s latest infotainment system, including streaming Bluetooth, voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto. Infiniti places one Type-A and one Type-C USB port in the front console but none in the rear seat area.
Driver assists include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic detection, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control with full-speed range and stop-and-go ability. Also in the mix are auto high-beam headlights and rear emergency braking.
All-wheel drive adds another $2,000 to the Q50 Luxe’s bottom line.

The Sensory trim brings a few more features to the table, but unless you absolutely can’t live without them, we think you’ll be happy saving over $5,000 and sticking with the Luxe.
Adding to the Luxe standard equipment, the Sensory includes unique sport front and rear fascia, 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather sport seats, auto-dimming side mirrors, and 3D navigation.
The Sensory includes enhanced interior ambient lighting, black open-pore wood trim, steering wheel paddle shifters, and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. It also upgrades to Infiniti’s Advanced Climate Control system with Plasmacluster technology air filtration.

The Red Sport 400 is Infiniti’s answer to BMW’s M and Audi’s S and RS trims. It comes with a more powerful 400-horsepower version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, has larger brakes, an adaptive sport suspension, and staggered-width 19-inch front and rear wheels.
Above the features found in the Sensory, the Red Sport gets quilted semi-aniline leather sport seats with power-adjustable side bolsters and manual thigh extensions. Also included is the Advanced Climate Control system, enhanced ambient lighting, matte black carbon interior trim, and a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.
