2022 Jaguar E-Pace: Choosing the Right Trim

With 2021 being a freshening year, the 2022 Jaguar E-Pace returns with only a few modest updates. It continues as stiff competition for the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1/X2, Mercedes-Benz GLA/GLB, Lexus UX, and other contenders in the small luxury SUV segment.

Its highlights remain its sporty driving dynamics and inviting cabin. And, we remain impressed with its class-leading 5-year/60,000-mile warranty, which also includes scheduled maintenance.

On the downside, rear-seat legroom is stingy (common in this class). And, the estimated 24 miles per gallon combined mileage could be better. Otherwise, the 2022 Jaguar E-Pace is a solid pick among its rivals.

2022 Jaguar E-Pace P250 ($40,995)

Seating five, the Jaguar E-Pace is a compact crossover. In its entry-level P250 and intermediate P250SE guises, a 246-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generates the thrust.

A 9-speed automatic transmission ushers power to all four wheels (AWD) or, if the Active Drive disconnect engages, to just the front wheels. Drivers have a choice of driving modes.

EPA-estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Other than somewhat limited access to options, the P250 delivers the full-blown E-Pace experience. It provides automatic LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic dual-zone climate control, and heated 12-way power-adjusted front seats. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

An 11.4-inch touchscreen is the face of the Touch Pro infotainment interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is an 11-speaker audio system. Other standard goodies include Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, three 12-volt power sockets, and two USB 3.0 ports.

Among the standard driver-assistance features are forward-collision warning with emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and front/rear parking sensors.

Adding the $1,050 factory delivery fee to the $40,995 price brings the total to $42,045. Financing that with no down payment for 60 months at a 3.0% interest rate works out to around $722 per month. Find a 2022 Jaguar E-Pace P250 for sale

Jaguar arms the top-of-the-line E-Pace with a derivation of the 2.0-liter turbo, generating 296 hp, thanks to some mild-hybrid help. It also gets a more sophisticated AWD system. Its key feature is the ability to transfer torque across the rear axle. All of this adds 1 mpg to the city fuel economy.

No surprise, this is the most gussied-up E-Pace version. It gets a suede-cloth headliner, split-trim leather steering wheel, configurable 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display, and upgraded infotainment interface.

Also standard on the P300 are the Adaptive Dynamics, 20-inch alloy wheels, and torque vectoring.

Among the options is the Activity Key wristband that performs many of the key fob’s functions.
