The 2023 Honda Passport returns virtually unchanged from last year. Therefore, we maintain our enthusiasm for its generous passenger and cargo room and its suite of safety technologies. The biggest news for 2023 is this: the base EX-L grade now gets all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard.

Three trim levels comprise the AWD Passport family, anchored by the EX-L. The TrailSport and Elite grades follow. They all source their thrust from a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 that generates 262 lb-ft of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters directs power to the wheels.
Delivering EPA fuel economy of 21 mpg in combined city and highway driving, this powertrain can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Every 2023 Passport includes Honda’s Intelligent Traction Management system. It’s a 3-mode (Snow, Sand, and Mud) system that alters the AWD, shift mapping, and throttle control accordingly. Hill-start assist is standard.
Doing battle in a crowded segment that includes the likes of the Toyota Highlander, Chevy Blazer, and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Passport delivers resale value that’s about average for its competitor group.
2023 Honda Passport EX-L: $41,100
We think the EX-L delivers the most value among the trim levels, and it’s the one we would buy if we were in the market.
Heading its list of standard features is the bundle of safety and driver-aid technologies called Honda Sensing. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning with steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is also part of the bundle.
Not officially part of Honda Sensing, but standard nonetheless are blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front/rear park assist.
LED exterior lights (auto on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights) provide extra brightness and a wider illumination area. High-beam assist is standard. The outboard mirrors are heated and include integrated turn signals.
Honda equips every 2023 Passport with a power moonroof, a power rear liftgate, leather seating, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Both front seats are heated and power-adjustable (driver 10-way and passenger 4-way). Push-button start and tri-zone automatic climate control come standard, too.
Overseeing the infotainment system is an 8-inch touchscreen. It controls the 7-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, and Bluetooth streaming. Honda includes four USB ports and wireless charging, as well.
Adding the $1,295 destination fee to the EX-L base price brings the total to $42,395. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to about $762 per month. See 2023 Honda Passport EX-L models for sale near you
2023 Honda Passport EX-L includes:
Intelligent Traction Management – This 3-mode system uses AWD, shift mapping, and throttle control to maximize mud, sand, or snow performance.
Tri-zone automatic climate control – This system allows you to set individual temperatures in three areas (front right, front left, and rear). It then maintains those temperatures.
Adaptive cruise control – Once you have engaged the system and set the speed, it will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating as needed.
2023 Honda Passport TrailSport: $43,600
Although we prefer the EX-L, it seems the TrailSport edges out the EX-L on the sales floor. As you might guess from its nameplate, the TrailSport is Honda’s nod at a more off-road-worthy Passport.
In addition to power-folding mirrors, the TrailSport’s $2,500 premium over the EX-L gets you proximity keyless entry (with walk-away locking) and all-terrain tires on 18-inch alloy wheels.
Adding the factory delivery fee to the TrailSport base price totals $44,895. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to a monthly payment of about $807. See 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport models for sale near you
2023 Honda Passport TrailSport includes:
Proximity keyless entry – If you have the key fob on you, the doors automatically unlock when you approach the Passport or touch its door handle.
Power-folding mirrors – These outboard rearview mirrors can be electronically folded against the side-window glass when driving into a tight space.
18-inch wheels – These alloy wheels have pewter-gray inserts and tires, and the taller sidewalls of the all-terrain tires provide better rim protection.
2023 Honda Passport Elite: $46,560
When your base Passport already comes with higher-end features like leather seating, heated power-adjustable front seats, and tri-zone climate control, what does Honda do to make the Elite a luxurious flagship?
Honda adds 20-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded 10-speaker premium audio system with a Wi-Fi hot spot. Also included are heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and a hands-free power rear liftgate.
Adding the factory delivery fee to the Elite base price equals $47,855. At 3% interest, financing for 60 months with no money down works out to about $860 monthly. See 2023 Honda Passport Elite models for sale near you
2023 Honda Passport Elite includes:
Premium audio system – This 10-speaker setup includes a subwoofer and a 540-watt amp.
Hands-free power liftgate – With the key fob on your person, stick your foot under the rear bumper, and the liftgate automatically opens.
Wi-Fi hot spot – Passengers can stream and share online via smartphones with this 4G LTE hot spot.
