The Mazda MX-30 is the sole EV in the Mazda lineup. It’s a small front-wheel-drive SUV the same size as the gas-powered CX-30, but it has an all-electric powertrain and is available exclusively in California.
The MX-30 has a few things going for it, like the quirky Freestyle doors, a fun driving experience, and sustainable interior materials. However, it’s hard to ignore the electric range of only 100 miles on a full charge. Competing electric SUVs like the Chevrolet Bolt EUV and Hyundai Kona Electric achieve more than double the range at a lower price point and are available in more than one state.

Let’s look at the two trim levels of the 2023 Mazda MX-30.
2023 Mazda MX-30 EV: $34,110
The base version of Mazda MX-30 has some intriguing standard features. One of the highlights is what Mazda calls “Freestyle doors,” small rear-hinged back doors that have historically been called “suicide doors” or “clamshell doors.”
The MX-30 also uses some noteworthy interior materials. Notable among these are fabric made from recycled bottles in the door panels, and cork, which is used in the MX-30 as an homage to Mazda’s brand’s heritage as a cork manufacturer.
Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, an adaptive front lighting system, leatherette-trimmed seats with cloth inserts, heated front seats, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming mirror, and a windshield-projected Active Driving Display.
The standard infotainment system is an 8.8-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, two USB ports, and an 8-speaker audio system.
Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, driver attention alert, and automatic high beams.
When you factor in a $1,275 destination fee, the starting price of the MX-30 comes to $35,385. Assuming a 60-month loan at 3% interest with no down payment or trade-in, the 2023 Mazda MX-30 will have a monthly payment starting at about $636. See 2023 Mazda MX-30 EV models for sale near you

2023 Mazda MX-30 Premium Plus: $37,120

Additional standard features include blind-spot assist, SiriusXM, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system, a universal garage door opener, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, front cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring camera, and front parking sensors.
