2024 Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV: Choosing the Right Trim

The Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV is the flagship SUV in the growing Mercedes-EQ line of EVs. It has a lot in common with the EQS Sedan but with the obvious difference of having an SUV body with available 3-row seating. A few virtues both EQS siblings share are quick acceleration (especially in the upper trims), cutting-edge technology, and a supremely luxurious interior befitting their 6-digit price tags.

The Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV competes in a growing field of electric luxury SUVs. This class includes the Tesla Model X, Rivian R1S, and Audi Q8 e-tron.

What’s New:

The 2024 model year brings some welcome updates to the EQS SUV. The dash-spanning MBUX Hyperscreen is now standard on every trim; a new battery improves range, and a standard heat pump makes for better range in cold weather. Also, optimizing range is a 4Matic Disconnect feature on all-wheel-drive-equipped models.

Additionally, the EQS 580 now represents more than a powertrain upgrade. It now comes standard with Nappa leather seats, the fronts boasting heating and massage functions. Also, an all-new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV joins the lineup as the first electric Maybach.

Our Recommendation:

The EQS 450 4Matic is in the sweet spot in the EQS SUV lineup. Not much more expensive than the base model, it comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) and a significant boost in torque.

2024 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450+ SUV: $104,400

The base model of the EQS SUV is the EQS 450+. The plus sign in the name indicates that it has the best range in the EQS SUV lineup. Its single electric motor powers the rear wheels with 355 horsepower and 419 lb-ft of torque. The EPA range for the 2023 model was 305 miles. We expect it to remain about the same for the 2024 model.

Standard features abound. They include 4-wheel steering, an Airmatic air suspension with adaptive damping, DC fast charging, 21-inch wheels, illuminated running boards, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, power-adjustable second-row seats, rear-seat pillows, a garage door opener, and a wireless charging pad.

The MBUX Hyperscreen now comes standard on every EQS SUV. It’s one massive display spanning the width of the dash. The Hyperscreen houses a digital gauge cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a front passenger screen. Other standard infotainment features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation with augmented reality, and a Burmester 3D premium sound system.

The Driver Assistance Package comes standard and bundles features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign assist, automatic high beams, and more. You also get the Parking Package with parking sensors and a surround-view camera system.

The EQS SUV comes standard with two rows of seating, but a third is available for an extra $1,250.

Many customization options let you tailor your EQS SUV precisely to your liking. Most paint options are available at no extra cost, but the Manufaktur Alpine Grey option adds $1,750. Interior color options include black, Macchiato Beige, and Neva Grey. A more luxurious Nappa leather upholstery is available for $1,370.

The Exclusive Trim and Pinnacle Trim (both $2,850) upgrade the EQS SUV with the MBUX Interior Assistant, 4-zone climate control, massaging and rapidly heating front seats, and animated Mercedes-Benz logo projectors in the front doors. The difference between Exclusive and Pinnacle? The Pinnacle trim requires the Executive Rear Seat Package, and the Exclusive trim doesn’t. The Executive Rear Seat Package ($2,650) features massaging rear seats, an upgraded rear armrest with an MBUX tablet and a wireless charging pad, adaptive rear lighting, rear side airbags, and the MBUX Interior Assist in the back.

Other option packages include the AMG Line Exterior Package ($3,000), the Night Package ($200), the Winter Package (adds a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and heated windshield washers for $950), and a Manufaktur Interior Package ($4,750).

The options don’t stop there. A few of our favorite individual options include massaging front seats ($1,100), a head-up display ($1,100 or $2,000 with augmented reality), 4-zone climate control ($860), heated third-row seats ($360), and an MBUX rear entertainment system ($2,990).

With the $1,150 destination fee, the 2024 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450+ SUV costs $105,550. On a 60-month loan with 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $1,992. See 2024 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450+ SUV models for sale near you
