2023 Nissan GT-R: Choosing the Right Trim

If we had a crystal ball, we might have some idea of where the 2023 Nissan GT-R stands in the hearts and minds of Nissan execs. After not even releasing a 2022 version, Nissan is basically giving us the 2021 model rebadged for 2023 with a price increase.

Sure, it still possesses all its trademark elements, like the explosive twin-turbo V6, advanced all-wheel drive (AWD), and adaptive suspension. However, this car hasn’t changed much in 12 years.

Maybe it didn’t need to change much. The GT-R, a descendant of the much-revered Skyline lineage so wildly popular in Japan, is an everyday driver you can appreciate on a track. Although it hasn’t evolved as well as rivals like the Porsche 911 and Chevy Corvette Z06, it remains an impressive performer.

We praise the Nissan GT-R for its heart-throbbing acceleration, pavement-grabbing handling, and enduring exclusivity. You are more likely to see a Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, or an Audi R8 on the street than a GT-R.

Don’t look for advanced safety and driver-aid technologies; you won’t find any as standard or optional. The GT-R does come with six airbags, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control.

Power and Fuel Economy

Nissan separates the GT-R into two models: Premium and Nismo. A contraction of Nissan and motorsports, Nismo is the more aggressive of the two GT-R grades. Both source their thrust from a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. In the Premium, it delivers 565 horsepower, while in Nismo form, the pony count goes up to 600. Whether it’s the Premium or Nismo, the EPA combined fuel economy rating is 18 miles per gallon.

Both trim levels feature ATTESA ET-S (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Terrains with Electronic Torque Split). Yes, it’s a mouthful. This AWD system shifts 98% of engine torque during off-the-line acceleration to the rear wheels. But in the blink of an eye, it can transfer equal amounts of torque to both axles or push more torque to an individual rear wheel if needed.

A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is the only gearbox available. Let’s take a look at the two 2023 Nissan GT-R trim levels.

2023 Nissan GT-R Premium: $113,540

The GT-R Premium sports adaptive suspension with Bilstein DampTronic electronically controlled shocks and Brembo monobloc disc brakes with cross-drilled, ventilated rotors. Driver-configurable driving modes oversee the transmission and suspension. A titanium exhaust and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels are also included.

Also standard are LED headlights and taillights, heated power-folding outboard mirrors, leather front seats with faux-suede inserts, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel. Heated power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and proximity keyless entry with push-button start are also included.

Overseeing the infotainment system is an 8-inch touchscreen. An 11-speaker Bose audio system with satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay is also standard, along with navigation, active noise cancellation, and hands-free texting.

For an extra $4,280, you can opt for the Premium Interior Package. It’s an upgrade to hand-stitched semi-aniline leather on the seats and other interior elements.

Adding the $1,895 factory destination fee to the Premium base price brings the total to $115,435. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to about $2,074 per month. See 2023 Nissan GT-R Premium models for sale near you

2023 Nissan GT-R Premium includes:

Power-adjustable front seats – The 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat are both heated.

Proximity keyless entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you approach the GT-R or touch the door handle. Push-button start is paired with proximity keyless entry.

Apple CarPlay – By allowing your iPhone to interface with your vehicle, this system lets you access music on your phone, send messages, receive messages, and make calls via this Nissan’s infotainment system.

2023 Nissan GT-R Nismo: $210,740

The Nismo represents major modifications and a big jump in price. In addition to an extra 35 horsepower, you get Nismo-tuned suspension, flared front fenders, exclusive Nismo 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels, and a carbon fiber roof. Also included are unique Nismo carbon fiber body elements like the front and rear fasciae, trunk lid, rear wing, hood, and front fenders.

Carbon-ceramic brakes, exclusive Recaro seats with faux suede inserts, and red-accent interior stitching help to round out the package.

Adding the destination fee to the Nismo base price equals $212,635. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to a monthly payment of about $3,821. See 2023 Nissan GT-R Nismo models for sale near you

2023 Nissan GT-R Nismo includes:

Carbon fiber elements – Nissan replaces several standard exterior elements with carbon-fiber ones. The roof, hood, front fenders, front and rear fasciae, and trunk lid are all made of the lightweight material.

Carbon-ceramic brakes – These carbon-ceramic discs are lighter than cast iron rotors and provide better stopping power.

Recaro seats – Recognized for superior support and ergonomics, the Recaro brand is the go-to seat for high-performance vehicles.
