While not as flashy or audacious as some luxury sedans, the Audi A4 and its potent S4 sibling go about impressing with their stunning interiors, high-tech wizardry, and ability to hustle when the road demands.
A set of tried-and-true turbocharged engines gives life to the A4/S4, backed by Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system. Blessed with Audi’s knack for striking just the right balance between ride comfort and handling, the A4 has broad appeal. The S4 is aimed at the more hardcore driving enthusiast. The duo covers a wide price spectrum, but even the least expensive A4 impresses with its standard content.
Rivals with more flash include the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Genesis G70, and BMW 3 Series. At the same time, the Lexus ES, Cadillac CT4, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class align with the A4’s more subtle design language.

2024 Audi A4 40 Premium: $41,200
You can drive off in a sophisticated European sport sedan for about the same price as a loaded Nissan Maxima or base Toyota Crown. The base A4 Premium is nothing to sneeze at, offering a surprising level of standard features.
The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder develops 201 horsepower, enough to move the A4 with gusto. Audi’s quattro AWD is standard, ensuring sure-footed traction rain or shine.
This year’s update expands the A4’s standard driver-assist roster, adding adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors. They join forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, a rear backup camera, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Audi pre sense city preps the vehicle for an impending collision, closing the windows and sunroof and tightening the seatbelts.
The Premium grade enjoys 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, and keyless entry with push-button start. Rain-sensing wipers are standard and activate when sensing rain, mist, or snow hitting the car’s windshield.
The Premium’s cabin supplies 8-way heated front seats with 4-way power lumbar support. Welcoming the driver is a heated 3-spoke tilt/telescoping steering wheel fitted with paddle shifters and controls for the audio, Bluetooth, and information screen.

The S4 Premium brings more sizzle to the A4 sedan, starting with its 349-hp turbocharged V6 engine.
