The Chevy Tahoe is a jack of all trades. It’s a full-size SUV with family-friendly 3-row seating, but it also has truck-like capabilities thanks to its robust range of engines that includes two V8s and a turbodiesel inline-6. As such, the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe competes toe-to-toe with the Ford Expedition, the Jeep Wagoneer, and the mechanically similar GMC Yukon in the competitive world of truck-based full-size, body-on-frame SUVs. The Chevy Suburban is effectively a Tahoe with an extra 15 inches of length.

The base Tahoe LS comes with a reasonable starting price and the practical benefits of a truck-based, full-size SUV. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 engine, generating 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. According to the EPA, this Tahoe gets 17 mpg combined with RWD or the optional 4WD system. The LS also is available with a Duramax turbodiesel inline-6, which produces 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is the most efficient engine available in the Tahoe; the EPA reports it at 24 mpg combined with RWD and 22 mpg combined with 4WD.
Standard features in the LS trim include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, assist steps, premium cloth seats, 3-row seating, tri-zone automatic climate control, remote start, two 120V power outlets, a tow package with Hitch Guidance, and eight USB ports (two type-A, six type-C).
The standard infotainment system has an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The standard Chevy Safety Assist safety tech suite bundles features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane-keeping assist, following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. Additional standard safety features include rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a Teen Driver mode.
