The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV shares its platform and electric components with the Hummer EV pickup but rides on a 9-inch-shorter wheelbase with 20 fewer inches in body length. On the plus side, the 5-passenger Hummer EV SUV offers an enclosed cargo area, making it less likely to lose cargo to thieves or off-road mishaps.
GMC offers the Hummer EV SUV in four trims, two with a 2-motor (one in front, one in back) design generating 625 horsepower, and two with a three-motor (two in back, one in front) design that produces 830 hp. With a range between 250 and 300 miles, the Hummer EV SUV should prove quite competitive to rivals from Ford, Rivian, and Tesla.
2024 GMC Hummer EV2 SUV (starting at $79,995)
The most basic Hummer EV SUV is the EV2. It features a 2-electric motor system good for 625 hp and a range of about 250 miles.
The Hummer EV SUV’s unique chassis design lacks drivelines, a gas tank, or an engine, creating a rigid and highly adaptable platform for off-roading. The design allows for 16-inches of ground clearance, 13-inches of suspension travel, the ability to tackle grades as steep as 60%, and traversing water hazards up to two feet deep. Standard 22-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires ensure maximum grip.
The Hummer EV2 features a power swing-out rear door with a power-operated window and a full-size spare tire. The front trunk lid is also power operated.
Up top, a 4-panel Infinity Roof allows partial or complete convertible top transformation. With the optional transparent Sky Panels in place, an abundance of daylight quickly permeates the interior. The panels have individual carrying cases and store in the front trunk.
The Hummer EV2’s cabin is an electronic wonderland with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that includes trail mapping projection via the myGMC app. In the center dash resides an enormous 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen that plays host to the audio and infotainment systems and the HD Surround Vision system with 14 separate camera views.
The myGMC app also allows numerous conveniences, such as pre-loading routes on your smartphone that can then be displayed on the infotainment screen once underway. The app can also help find and navigate off-road adventures, plan charging times and locate charging stations either along your route or closest to off-road locations.
GMC’s Digital Key feature turns your smartphone into a key fob, allowing you to unlock or lock the doors, operate the vehicle, and even activate approach lighting when the Hummer senses you are close.
A driver-selectable rotary mode controller on the console allows for various driving modes, including Off-Road, Normal, Tow/haul, and My Mode, for a personalized driving experience. An Adrenaline Mode also maximizes output for rapid zero-to-60 mph sprints.
Among its many advanced driver aids, the Hummer EV SUV includes GM’s Super Cruise, a semi-autonomous driving mode similar to Tesla’s Autopilot. With Super Cruise, the Hummer EV SUV can steer, navigate, brake, and accelerate all on its own, operating on more than 200,000 miles of enabled North American roads. The enhanced system includes a new lane-change feature that determines the optimal time to change lanes while following proper signaling protocols.
The EV2 uses a built-in 400-volt DC fast charge capable charger but can upgrade to 800 volts and an extended range of 300 miles.

2024 GMC Hummer EV2X SUV (starting at $89,995)
The EV2X is the trim we think most people will find attractive. For about $10,000 over the base EV2, you get the upgraded battery and 800-volt fast charger, plus some very cool features bound to impress the neighbors.
The EV2X gains 4-Wheel Steer, the appropriately named “CrabWalk” mode, and an adaptive air suspension with Extract Mode.
The EV2X’s Adaptive Ride Control will automatically lower the vehicle at highway speeds for improved aerodynamics and cornering stability.
The Extreme Off-Road Package is optional on the EV2X and higher trims, which adds unique 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. Also in the package are underbody armor and rock sliders, heavy-duty ball-spline half shafts, front and rear e-lockers (for low-speed rock crawling), and UltraVision, which adds additional underbody cameras to the 360-degree Surround Vision system, including front and rear-facing cameras with a wash system.

- 4-Wheel Steer – This system gives the EV2X a tight 35.4-foot turning radius by turning both the front and rear wheels.
- CrabWalk Mode – Enables the EV2X to turn all four wheels up to a 10-degree angle and in the same direction. This configuration permits the vehicle to move sideways, similar to how a crab walks.
- Extract Mode – Using the EV2X’s air suspension, this system can raise the vehicle by about 6 inches to help it clear significant obstacles or lower it, making it easier to enter or load up with gear.
2024 GMC Hummer EV3X SUV (starting at $99,995)
The EV3X brings the meat and potatoes to the Hummer EV SUV, adding a third electric motor (one in front, two in the rear), increasing horsepower to 830, and delivering a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds.
The three-motor Ultium e4WD system brings torque vectoring and the Watts To Freedom mode, which is needed to reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Optional equipment includes the Sky Panel transparent roof panels and a Power Station generator.
When ordered with the EV3X, the Extreme Off-Road Package adds front e-lockers and virtual rear lockers.

This limited edition Hummer EV SUV, with 1,000 horsepower, has already sold out. But if you’re lucky enough to pick up a cancelation, you’ll get everything in the EV3X plus Moonshot Green Matte paint, a Lunar Shadow interior, and the transparent Sky Panels.
If you’re sensing a lunar theme, it’s because GM and Boeing had a significant role in building NASA’s Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), which is also an electric vehicle and remains double-parked on the Moon. We’re not quite sure who’s picking up that tab.
