Hyundai is on a roll with its electric cars and SUVs, and its success is nowhere more evident than in the 2024 Ioniq 6. The Ioniq 6’s off-beat good looks stand apart from traditional sedans, and its advanced electric motors and battery pack permit a maximum range of 361 miles. That’s better than the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the all-new Polestar 3, and even the Tesla Model 3.
Hyundai offers the rear-drive Ioniq 6 in four well-equipped trims, with all but the base Standard Range model available with an all-wheel drive (AWD) option.
What’s New:
The entry-level SE Standard Range loses a few features, but the reconfiguration results in a lower base price.
Our Recommendation:
The best Hyundai Ioniq 6 value is the rear-drive SE with the long-range battery. It offers the best range of the bunch and has enough safety, tech, and comfort features to satisfy most. Moving to the SEL gets you a few more perks but knocks 56 miles off the range.
These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) and include the $1,115 factory-to-dealer delivery fee (destination charge). Prices are current at the time of publishing.

The Ioniq 6 SEL comes with a more powerful 225-hp electric motor setup. Compared with the SE, the SEL’s range drops from 361 miles to 305, mainly due to the larger 20-inch wheel-and-tire combo and added features.
The AWD version sees the overall range drop from 316 miles to 270.
On the safety front, the Ioniq 6 SEL adds features to the collision avoidance system, namely the ability to detect when it’s not safe to enter an intersection or overtake another car on a 2-lane road and the ability to help steer the vehicle away from a potential frontal or side collision.
Blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance apply brakes when detecting danger, such as pulling out from a parallel parking spot when a vehicle is approaching from the rear.
Highway Drive Assist 2 (HDA 2) adds lane-change assist to the adaptive cruise control. With this system, drivers only need to signal their intent to change lanes, and the system automatically performs the maneuver when it’s safe. HDA 2 also includes a feature that will move the Ioniq 6 to the lane’s edge if it senses an adjacent car coming into your lane.
Additional SEL features include 64-color ambient interior lighting, H-Tex synthetic leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, auto up/down front windows, a wireless charging pad, and Hyundai’s Digital Key, which turns a smartphone into a key.

Great summary! If I purchase the AWD SE version, can I chose to run it in RWD mode when I need longer ranges?
Also, is there an adapter so I can use Tesla chargers?
