2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid: Choosing the Right Trim

The all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid offers 7-passenger seating in a thoroughly modern SUV with cutting-edge electronics, numerous safety and driver assist systems, and eye-popping fuel economy.

Arriving alongside the new Santa Fe (reviewed separately), the Santa Fe Hybrid doesn’t offer as many trims but does cover the three we think matter most: SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy. A 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor delivers a combined output of 231 horsepower, and although all Santa Fe Hybrid trims come standard with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive (AWD) can be added for $1,800.

Competitors like the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, Kia Sorento Hybrid, and the Mazda CX-90 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) are also vying for your hybrid dollar.

Let’s look closer and see which Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid trim is best for you.

What’s New:

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is all-new this year. It’s larger and features more interior room plus standard 3-row seating. The hybrid engine is expected to get fuel economy figures in the mid-30s, making this one of the most enticing family SUVs on the market.

Our Recommendation:

The value leader in the group remains the Santa Fe Hybrid SEL. Buyers with luxury on their minds should skip the Limited and go straight to the Calligraphy.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid SEL: $38,345

The entry-level SEL is the trim that offers the most bang for the buck. Along with its efficient hybrid engine, the SEL features a 6-speed automatic transmission, hill start assist, and Drive Mode Select with Comfort, Sport, and Smart settings. The Santa Fe Hybrid is tow-rated up to 2,000 pounds (requires trailer brakes).

In what can only be described as an all-out commitment to safety, Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of driver assistance systems comes standard. The equipment includes forward collision avoidance with Junction Turning and pedestrian and cyclist detection. That first feature alerts the driver when making a dangerous left-hand turn across oncoming traffic. There’s also automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.

Additional equipment includes a forward attention warning and an ultrasonic rear occupant alert system to detect if a child or pet has been left in the car. There are also automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, lane-following assist, rear side-impact airbags, a rearview monitor, and Safe Exit Assist, which warns of danger when the driver or passengers are about to open their doors into approaching traffic.

The SEL exterior touts 18-inch alloy wheels and features auto on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, proximity keyless entry, power heated side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, roof rails, rear privacy glass, 2-speed variable wipers, a rear wiper/washer, and a rear spoiler. A hands-free power liftgate makes loading and unloading much easier, especially when you don’t have a free hand.

Hyundai Digital Key 2 turns your phone into a key, with cool features like remote start and the ability to share the key with other phones, granting access to your family and friends when you’re not around to hand them the physical key fob.

Moving to the interior, we find leatherette upholstery covering all three rows, seating up to seven people. Additional equipment includes an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support, heated front seats, a panoramic view curved display, a wireless charging pad, third-row air vents, manual rear air conditioning, and auto up/down power front windows.

The SEL’s second row features 60/40-split folding-and-reclining seats, while the third row gets a 50/50-split seat that folds flat, creating a level cargo floor.

Standard amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a 4.2-inch color multi-information display, push-button start, and LED interior lighting.

On the infotainment front, the SE features a 12.3-inch touchscreen display housing, an AM/FM/HD Radio tuner, SiriusXM satellite radio, and rear seat quiet mode that lets you turn off the rear speakers. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also part of the system.

The SEL features four high-powered USB charge ports, two up front and two in the second row.

On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid SEL monthly payment starts at $724. See 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid SEL models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL includes:

Adaptive cruise control – Maintains a safe distance between you and the car ahead. It can slow or stop the vehicle as needed, then resume speed.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – This boon for budget buyers eliminates the need for the correct size USB cable and port, not to mention unsightly wires.

Ample driver-assist systems – The SE’s generous list of standard driver-aids is an unexpected bonus.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited: $45,245

The Limited trim moves the Santa Fe Hybrid into the near-luxury field, building off the SEL and adding larger 20-inch wheels and features power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and a dual-pane sunroof.

Additional driver aids include Remote Smart Parking Assist (can pull in or out of a perpendicular parking spot remotely), reverse automatic braking, a Blind-Spot View monitor, a 360-degree Surround View monitor, and side parking sensors.

Moving inside, we find leather upholstery, a Melange microfiber headliner, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and an 8-way power passenger seat. The Limited’s driver’s seat also gains two-position memory and 4-way power lumbar support.

Other upgrades worth mentioning include ambient interior lighting, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster, manual sliding rear sunshades, third-row USB ports, fingerprint recognition, and a UV-C sanitizer compartment in the upper glovebox.

On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited monthly payment starts at $854. See 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited includes:

Dual-pane sunroof – The Limited’s massive dual-pane sunroof makes the cabin feel open and airy, even when closed.

Ventilated front seats – Cooling air circulating through the seat back and bottom helps keep occupants comfortable and dry during hot summer days.

UV sanitizer – The Limited’s upper glove box contains a UV compartment for sanitizing smartphones, sunglasses, wallets, or anything you touch that can transmit viruses.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy: $48,395

At the top of the Santa Fe Hybrid trim ladder reigns the Calligraphy. This ultimate luxury SUV picks up where the Limited left off, adding premium luxury features like second-row captain’s chairs with power fold and recline, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, and driver and front passenger relaxation seats featuring extendable leg rests.

Other Calligraphy perks include dual wireless charging pads, 20-inch alloy wheels, C-Pillar grab handles, premium door trim, a faux suede headliner, expanded ambient interior lighting, a head-up display, auto up/down power windows on all four doors, and a camera-based rearview mirror.

Highway Driving Assist 2 adds lane-changing capabilities to the High Driving Assist system, while Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist can intervene to help avoid a collision.

On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy monthly payment starts at $913. See 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy includes:

Power-reclining captain’s chair seating – The Calligraphy’s second-row captain’s chairs are designed for ultimate comfort and feature power recline, tilt, and extendable leg rests.

Head-up display – This 12-inch color display projects vital vehicle information onto the windshield, so the driver’s eyes never have to leave the road.

Camera rearview mirror – Using a camera at the rear of the vehicle projects a view behind the Santa Fe, giving the driver an unobstructed view even with passenger or cargo blocking the rear window.

FAQ

  • What is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid warranty?

The Santa Fe Hybrid has a class-leading 5-year/60,000-mile basic plan and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty that includes the battery pack and hybrid components.

  • How many miles per gallon does the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid get?

We expect the 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid’s fuel economy estimates won’t be far off the figures posted by the last generation Santa Fe Hybrid, so look for figures around 36 mpg city/32 mpg highway/34 mpg combined.

Adding AWD will drop the figures by one or two mpg.

  • Which 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid trim offers the most safety?

To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash-tested the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. However, even the base SEL has enough driver assists and safety systems to make it a vehicle you can trust. Moving to higher trims opens the door to even more safety systems, with the Calligraphy having the most.
