The 2024 Hyundai Tucson carries over from 2023 in an essentially unchanged fashion. But Hyundai’s compact 5-seat SUV has received some mild trim and packaging changes for 2024.
Among them: The sporty Tucson N Line is now available only as a hybrid and is covered in our Autotrader Trim Review of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The Tucson SE gains rear side-impact airbags with rollover sensors. Its steering wheel now provides haptic feedback when using Lane Keeping Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Other minor changes: On the 2024 Tucson SEL, the LED taillights and side mirrors with turn signal indicators have been deleted. On a positive note, the SEL can regain them and add dual-zone automatic climate control and an automatic windshield defogger with the extensive Convenience Package.
Available Tucson trim levels for 2024 include the SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited. The Tucson Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) are reviewed elsewhere.
Competition in the compact crossover SUV category remains fierce. Notable Tucson rivals include the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, plus challengers like the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue, and Mazda CX-5.
As in 2023, the internal-combustion-engine (ICE) versions of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson are powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that routes 187 horsepower to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Look for EPA fuel economy in the neighborhood of 25 mpg city/32 mpg highway/28 mpg combined with front-wheel drive (FWD) and 23 mpg city/28 mpg highway/25 mpg combined with all-wheel drive (AWD).
For the record, AWD is a reasonable $1,500 option on the SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited Tucson trims. Each Tucson can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

What’s New:
The Hyundai Tucson gets some mild trim and package changes for 2024. One of our favorite compact 5-seat SUVs, the Tucson gains standard side rear airbags for 2024.
Our Recommendation:
Of the nonhybrid 2024 Hyundai Tucson models, we like the SEL best. It has the conveniences most people like (a wireless smartphone charger, satellite radio, dual-zone automatic climate control) while keeping the price below $30,000. You can also order the SEL with the optional Convenience Package, which brings abundant upgrades like a digital instrument cluster and navigation.

2024 Hyundai Tucson SE: $27,250 (FWD), $28,750 (AWD)
The SE continues to provide a remarkable amount of standard equipment for less than $30,000. Welcome features such as adaptive cruise control (with stop and go) are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are all included.
Also standard are 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, auto on/off LED headlights, remote keyless entry, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, a reclining 60/40-split folding rear seat, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel. While you get single-zone manual air conditioning instead of automatic climate control, the SE does come with an 8-inch color touchscreen and a 6-speaker audio system with two USB ports.
The safety and driver-aid bundle installs forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, junction-turning assist, and lane-following assist. Also included are lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit warning. Speed-limit assist, driver-attention warning, and rear-seat occupant alert come standard, too.
Handy features in the Tucson SE include a 12-volt power point in the center console and rear cargo area, plus rear seatback releases also in the cargo hold. Hyundai doesn’t offer any factory-installed options on the SE beyond AWD.
Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the SE base price brings the total to $28,585. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to about $539 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Tucson SE models for sale
2024 Hyundai Tucson SE includes:
Adaptive cruise control – This standard system maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating as needed. It will bring the SE to a safe stop if needed.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – With these wireless features, you get the conveniences of your smartphone via the Tucson’s media system.
High-beam assist – This system automatically switches off the high beams if oncoming traffic is detected.
2024 Hyundai Tucson SEL: $29,400 (FWD), $30,900 (AWD)
Our value pick. The SEL gets a lot more equipment for only about $2,000 more.
A handful of examples: an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a hands-free power rear liftgate, a push-button starter, heated front seats, and heated outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals. You also get two rear USB ports, a wireless smartphone charger, the Hyundai Digital Key, and the Bluelink+ Connected Car System.
The most notable option package on the SEL is the Convenience Package. For $2,500, you get H-Tex leatherette seating, 19-inch alloy wheels, a power sunroof, and dual 10.25-inch digital screens for the gauges and navigation system. It also comes with 64 colors of ambient interior lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the SEL base price equals $30,735. Financing for 60 months at 5% interest with $0 down works out to about $580 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Tucson SEL models for sale
2024 Hyundai Tucson SEL includes:
Hyundai Digital Key – This app lets drivers control certain functions via their smartphones. For example, you can lock or unlock the Tucson SEL’s doors.
Bluelink+ Connected Car – This system uses your smartphone for multiple purposes: accident notification, navigation, and even maintenance reminders.
Hands-free power liftgate – Swipe your foot below the SEL’s rear bumper to open the hatch automatically.
2024 Hyundai Tucson XRT: $34,075 (FWD), $35,575 (AWD)
The XRT builds on the SEL by making standard the Convenience Package and adding a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation.
While the XRT is largely an appearance package designed to make the Tucson look rugged, we like what we see. In addition to 19-inch black alloy wheels, the XRT gets black outboard mirrors, black window trim, black upholstery, and bolder side cladding.
Other changes to the XRT include revised lower front and rear fasciae, side steps, roof rail crossbars, and a tow hitch. Of note: Apple CarPlay/Android Auto in the XRT (and above) requires a wired connection, but it does come with a larger touchscreen (10.25 inches versus 8.0).
Given the rugged looks of the XRT, we’d get it with AWD, reasonably priced at $1,500.
Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the XRT base price totals $35,410. Financing for 60 months at 5% interest with $0 down amounts to about $668 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Tucson XRT models for sale
2024 Hyundai Tucson XRT includes:
XRT appearance – With its prominent cladding, black wheels, and unique front and rear fasciae, the XRT does give the Tucson a more rugged look.
Tow hitch – The XRT comes standard with a tow hitch. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 2,000 pounds.
Curve control – Using information from the nav system, this system automatically slows the XRT, if needed, for upcoming curves on the highway.
2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited: $36,510 (FWD), $38,010 (AWD)
Simply put, the Limited is loaded. It’s the top Tucson in content, comfort, and price.

You also get heated and vented power front seats (with driver memory), heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, paddle shifters, projector LED headlights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Moreover, the Tucson Limited gets reverse automatic emergency braking, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist.
AWD is the only option on this well-equipped flagship Tucson.
Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the Limited base price totals $37,845. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to about $714 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited models for sale
2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited includes:
Remote Smart Parking Assist – Using the Digital Key, Tucson Limited drivers can park their vehicle in a tight spot while standing outside the vehicle and using the key fob.
Highway Driving Assist –This semiautonomous technology can steer, accelerate, or slow the Tucson in certain situations, but drivers must keep their hands on the steering wheel.
Curve control – By having the nav system communicate with the adaptive cruise control, the Tucson Limited will slow, if necessary, for curves on the highway.
