To compete with Ford and Chevy, Ram knows it must match or beat its domestic rivals in areas that matter most to pickup truck buyers, then go further in ride comfort, styling, and features.
The 2024 Ram 1500 series stands out with tasteful styling and some of the nicest interiors ever adopted by a work truck. Minus a regular cab, the Ram 1500 features several cab and bed configurations and impressive horsepower figures, allowing for a max tow rating of 12,750 pounds and a max payload of 2,300 pounds.
The Ram 1500 pickup offers eight trims this year, including the limited production TRX off-road version. Competitors include the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra, Toyota Tundra. and, for one last year, the Nissan Titan.
Prices are current at the time of publishing.
What’s New:
For 2024, all Ram 1500 pickups feature a tailgate ajar warning light.
The Ram 1500 Tradesman Warlock gains enhanced off-road credentials, including an electronic rear-locking differential, skid plates, 1-inch raised ride height, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and Bilstein front and rear shock absorbers.
The off-road TRX gets a farewell edition, marking the final year for the truck and its impressive 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
Our Recommendation:
We’d pick the Ram Big Horn or the Laramie for an everyday truck with a healthy dose of comfort. The Big Horn offers a Quad Cab for those who prefer it, but both trims come nicely equipped and are optionable to the nines.
Luxury buyers will be most interested in the Limited, while off-roaders should go for the Rebel. Sure, the TRX will impress your friends, but its limited production and high cost somewhat limit the buyer pool.

2024 Ram 1500 Tradesman: $38,570
The entry-level Tradesman is a work truck. It comes in a choice of Quad Cab or Crew Cab, with a 6-foot-4-inch bed. The Crew Cab can also be outfitted with a 5-foot-7-inch bed. A 305-hp 3.6-liter V6 powers the Tradesman, aided by a 48-volt eTorque mild hybrid starter/generator. This motor sends power through an 8-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.
Buyers can upgrade to 4-wheel drive (4WD) and a 5.7-liter eTorque Hemi V8, producing a robust 395 hp.
The Tradesman’s equipment list is pretty straightforward. It has 18-inch steel wheels (including an 18-inch spare), a damped tailgate with a built-in LED hitch lamp, heated side mirrors with a wide-angle convex insert, a Class III bumper hitch, a bed lamp, variable wipers, automatic on/off headlights, and black front and rear bumpers.
Beyond the obligatory anti-lock brakes, electronic traction and stability controls, and airbags, the Tradesman includes trailer sway control and a system to help keep the brakes dry when it’s raining. Also included are roll mitigation and a rear seat reminder that prompts the driver to check the back seat for children or pets before exiting the vehicle.
Also standard is a tire pressure monitor that alerts when achieving the proper air pressure.
Inside the Tradesman’s roomy cabin, you’ll find manual air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, keyless entry with push-button start, a 40/20/40-split bench seat, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
Cruise control comes standard, as does the Uconnect 3 audio with a 5-inch touchscreen, built-in Bluetooth, an AM/FM radio, two USB ports, an audio input jack, and six speakers. Satellite radio is unavailable, but SiriusXM Guardian is available. With this service, you’ll gain access to safety and security apps, such as Automatic SOS calling, remote start, and roadside assistance. Neither Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto is available on this radio, but you can get it by upgrading to the Uconnect 5 system.
The Level 1 Safety Group brings forward collision assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Additional equipment offered on the Tradesman includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Reverse Steering Control.
Order the Tradesman Level 1 Equipment Group, and you’ll get SiriusXM satellite radio, a 40/20/40 cloth bench seat, a power sliding rear window, full carpeting, and in-floor storage.
Various packages offer a spray-in bedliner, additional exterior chrome accents, upgraded wheels, a 33-gallon fuel tank, trailer brake control, and deployable bed steps.
4-wheel-drive models offer the Warlock Package with such highlights as 18-inch black-painted wheels, all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear axle, raised ride height, performance-tuned shocks, fog lamps, and skid plates covering the steering, front suspension, transfer case, and fuel tank. You’ll also get the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
An Off-Road Group also features much of the Warlock Package’s off-road equipment.
Additional upgrades include a Trailer Tow Group and a Snow Plow Prep Package with a 220-amp alternator, plow prep wiring harness, and the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen (requires Trailer Tow Group).

3.6-liter V6 – The Ram 1500’s standard V6 is a powerhouse with an eTorque mild hybrid system that briefly boosts torque and helps improve fuel economy.
Heated side mirrors – Activated with the rear defroster, heating elements in the side mirrors prevent ice and snow buildup.

White paint comes standard, but for an additional $245, buyers can opt for Diamond Black Crystal paint.

2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star: $43,785
These Big Horn and Lone Star are nearly identical. The different names come from a marketing strategy that sees the Lone Star sold exclusively in Texas. Cab, engine, and bed configurations mirror those of the Tradesman.
Standard equipment builds off the Tradesman, adding more chrome and exterior flash and substantial upgrades, including front and rear stabilizer bars, heavy-duty shocks, front fog lights, and 60/40 folding rear seats.
What makes the Big Horn and Lone Star so attractive is their extensive list of available equipment, allowing far more customization over the base Tradesman trucks.
The Big Horn equipment groups are Level 1 and Level B. Highlights in the Level 1 Equipment Group include power-folding exterior mirrors, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power sliding rear window, and the Uconnect 5 infotainment system.
Also in the group is a Class IV hitch receiver, an upper glovebox, a 3.5-inch color display, and an auto-dimming interior mirror with a universal garage door opener.
Highlights from the Level B Group include Park Sense front and rear parking sensors (with reverse stop), remote start, a security alarm, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support. You also get power-adjustable pedals, nine amplified speakers with a powered subwoofer, and the Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Also in the Level B Group is a 400-watt inverter, front and rear 115-volt outlets, a 7-inch programmable cluster display, a power sliding rear window, and a damped tailgate.
The Technology Group on Crew Cab Big Horn and Lone Star models includes a head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and LED cargo bed lights. New this year is an available 12-inch digital instrument cluster with nearly two dozen different menus and five reconfigurable tiles.
Several option groups include upgraded towing packages, exterior appearance enhancements, a 10-speaker premium audio system including a subwoofer, LED headlights, LED fog lights, Uconnect 5 with navigation and an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen, and a power sunroof (dual-pane on Crew Cab models).
Other note-worthy features include several bed upgrades, such as adjustable tie-downs, a deployable bed step, a multifunction tailgate, or a spray-in bedliner.
The 4×4 models include electronic on-demand 4-wheel drive.
Opting for the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 opens the door to the Hemi Max Tow Package, which bumps the towing capacity to 12,750 pounds.
With the $1,995 destination fee, the 2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star Quad Cabs cost $45,780. With $0 down, the monthly payment on a 60-month loan at 5% financing works out to $823. See 2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn models for sale near you, and See 2024 Ram 1500 Lone Star models for sale near you
2024 Ram 1500 Laramie: $53,785
For those who prefer a more luxurious work truck, consider the Laramie: It adds features and options worthy of a high-end luxury SUV while maintaining the ability to tow, haul, and get dirty.
The Laramie’s upgrades begin under the hood, where a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 would be our engine of choice. The Laramie comes only as a Crew Cab model with a 5-foot-7-inch or a 6-foot-4-inch bed.
Standard driver aids include forward collision mitigation and automatic emergency braking.
Building off the Big Horn, the Laramie adds 8-way heated and ventilated leather front seats with power lumbar support, a power sliding rear window, power-folding mirrors with puddle lights, memory for the driver’s seat and mirrors, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Also standard are two 115-volt outlets, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, and an advanced keyless entry system that allows the doors to unlock simply by touching the handle.
The audio system features an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Ram Connected Services, and a 10-speaker premium audio system, including a subwoofer.
Like the Big Horn, the Laramie features two primary option groups: Laramie Level 1 and Laramie Level B.
Level 1 highlights include automatic high-beam headlights, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a blind-spot monitor that extends to cover a trailer, and a rear cross-traffic alert. Additional equipment includes a power tailgate release with a tailgate-ajar warning, front and rear parking sensors with automatic rear braking, navigation, heated rear seats, and a split 60/40 front seat with a massive fold-down center console.
The Level B Group builds from Level 1, adding a wireless charging pad, rear under-seat storage, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
The Laramie is the first of the Ram trims to offer the Advanced Safety Group, which adds adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, a surround-view camera, and ParkSense parallel and perpendicular parking assist.

2024 Ram 1500 Rebel: $58,450
The Rebel is one of two off-road-ready trims in the Ram lineup, the other being the TRX. Unlike the TRX, the Rebel’s price remains within reach of most pickup buyers. While the Rebel is not as powerful or well-equipped as the TRX, it’s no slouch when tackling rugged terrain.
The Rebel offers a choice of rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4WD, and it comes exclusively as a Crew Cab with a 5-foot-7-inch bed.
The 3.6-liter V6 comes standard, with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 optional.
With its sport-performance hood, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, additional skid plate protection, and oversized black wheel flares, the Ram 1500 Revel stands out.
But it’s not just a pretty face. The Rebel has the hardware to back up its off-road image, including an electronically locking rear differential and an off-road suspension that raises the truck’s ground clearance to 8.3 inches.
This raised suspension also allows an 18-degree approach angle, a 19-degree breakover angle, and a 25.1-degree departure angle, which are appreciated when off-roading. Also appreciated on the dirt is Selec-Speed control, which acts as a kind of low-speed cruise control.
Standard features for the 2024 Ram 1500 Rebel include manually adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Uconnect 5 with an 8.4-inch screen and built-in navigation, off-road rubber floor mats, a 12-inch TFT instrument cluster, and a 115-volt outlet. Also standard are automatic emergency braking and hill start assist.
Along with the other trims’ towing and appearance packages, the Rebel has four groups that offer the most content.
Highlights from the Rebel Level 1 Equipment Group include power-folding mirrors, power-adjustable pedals, heated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar, a heated steering wheel, and the Uconnect 12-inch-touchscreen infotainment system.

Finally, the Rebel 2 Equipment Group adds the 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, rain-sensing wipers, and a security alarm.
There’s also a G/T Equipment Group for the Rebel Crew Cab with the 5-foot-7-inch box (see the Laramie trim for details), the Technology Group, and the towing and snow prep groups.
