The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has arrived, showing off a new look atop a new platform that promises better ride and handling with improved comfort, safety, and versatility.
Familiar friends like the standard Symmetrical all-wheel drive (AWD) and EyeSight driver-assist systems are still here, but the optional manual transmission and easy-to-use physical climate control knobs seem to have gone, well, unfriended.
The Crosstrek returns with the same engine lineup. Base and Premium models derive power from a 152-horsepower 2.0-liter flat-4 engine, while the Sport and Limited get a more powerful 2.5-liter boxer engine supplying 182 hp.
No word yet on when the Crosstrek Hybrid will rejoin the lineup, but we imagine it will be sometime near the year’s end.
Beyond the new body and chassis, the Crosstrek gets an upgraded interior, an available 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, and a few more features helping it compete with small SUVs like the Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Base: $24,995
Not many new cars costing less than $25,000 have what the Crosstrek has to offer. Even the Base model comes standard with AWD and Subaru’s X-Mode, which better controls power to the wheels when driving through slippery snow, loose dirt, or mud.
Hill descent control keeps the Crosstrek from moving too quickly when inching down steep trails, while SI-Drive allows the driver to choose a more responsive throttle setting for better acceleration when passing or merging.
Auto start/stop shuts down the engine when the Crosstrek is stopped at a light or in traffic, helping save fuel and reduce emissions. A button on the dash can shut off the system, but you must press it every time you start the vehicle.
Subaru equips the Crosstrek with its EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
Other safety features include steering-responsive LED headlights with automatic high beams, complete airbag coverage, individual tire pressure monitoring, and a rear backup camera.
The Crosstrek rides on 17-inch dark gray alloy wheels and features power mirrors, power windows with auto up/down front windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, variable intermittent front wipers, and a rear wiper/washer.
Also standard is cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate controls, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
The Starlink multimedia system consists of dual 7-inch touchscreens. The top screen operates the radio and audio systems, which include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and SiriusXM satellite radio. It also serves as the rear backup camera monitor.
The lower screen controls the dual-zone automatic climate control and vehicle settings.
A 4-speaker AM/FM radio comes standard. The Crosstrek Base offers no factory options, although quite a few unique accessories are available through the dealer.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Base includes:
- EyeSight – Subaru’s extensive suite of standard driver assists helps prevent accidents and reduces driver fatigue on long trips.
- X-Mode – The X-Mode system varies the way power is routed to the wheels, sending it to the wheel with the most grip while increasing the traction control’s sensitivity for quicker response.
- Adaptive cruise control – This feature not only holds the vehicle at a set speed but also maintains a safe distance from the traffic ahead, automatically slowing and speeding up as necessary.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium: $26,145
For only a little additional cash, the Premium brings more features and options worth the added cost.
Building off the Crosstrek Base, the Premium adds Keyless Access with push-button start, raised roof rails, integrated side-mirror turn signals, LED fog lights, and auto up/down on all four windows.
The Premium’s interior gains illuminated USB Type A and Type C charge ports in the rear seat area, lighted visor vanity mirrors, backlit power window switches on all four doors, and steering-wheel paddle shifters.
Premium cloth upholstery covers the seats. In back, a folding central armrest features two cupholders.
The most significant difference between the Premium and Base is the giant 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, which incorporates controls for the audio, smartphone integration, climate controls, and vehicle settings into a single screen. Along with a 6-speaker stereo, the system includes access to Subaru Starlink Safety, Security, and Concierge services.
Premium buyers can opt for a single upgrade package, which adds a blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic detection, automatic emergency steering, a 10-way power driver’s seat (with 2-way power lumbar support), and a power moonroof.
The All-Weather Package, which comes with the above upgrade, adds heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and heated front wipers.
Automatic emergency steering works with automatic emergency braking at speeds below 50 mph. Suppose the system detects that a potential collision is imminent. It employs the front cameras and rear radar to assess the situation around the vehicle and, if safe to do so, steers the car away from the object before impact can occur.

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium includes:
- 11.6-inch touchscreen – This massive touchscreen puts vital controls in one easy-to-locate place. Voice commands and smartphone integration make it easy to find your favorite coffee spot, listen to your favorite artist, or have text messages read aloud.
- Keyless Access – With the fob in your pocket, you need only touch the door handle to unlock the Crosstrek. Once inside, a push of a button is all that is required to start the engine.
- Available All-Weather Package – The All-Weather Package includes heated seats to keep occupants comfortable in winter. It also adds heating elements that reduce ice and snow buildup on the wipers and outside mirrors.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport: $28,995
The Sport adds more flair to the Crosstrek with distinctive exterior yellow accents, 18-inch alloy wheels, and gloss-black finishes on the grille, mirror caps, and roof spoiler.
Under the hood, the Sport gets a more powerful 2.5-liter engine and dual-function X-Mode with an additional setting for deep snow and mud.
The yellow accent theme continues into the Sport’s cabin, with yellow seat stitching and yellow trim rings around the speedometer and tachometer. Contrasting simulated carbon-fiber trim adorns the dash and doors.
The All-Weather Package comes standard, as does a wireless charging pad, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
The Sport also receives an acoustic laminated windshield and additional sound insulation.
Optional on the Sport is a package that includes a power moonroof, a 10-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency steering.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited: $30,895
The top-line Limited is the trim for people who like a more luxurious interior, better driver assists, and a great-sounding audio system.
Building off the Sport trim, the Limited adds a standard blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic detection, reverse automatic emergency braking, and automatic emergency steering.
The Limited also receives upgraded front headlights with additional LEDs for the accent lights, front turn signals, and side marker lights. Eighteen-inch machine-finished alloy wheels and integrated side mirror turn signals are also part of the Limited package.
The Limited’s cabin gains perforated leather upholstery offered in black or gray and with contrasting orange stitching. A 10-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support comes standard.
Limited buyers have a choice of two packages. One adds a power moonroof and a 432-watt 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. However, unlike the Harman Kardon units in other Subaru SUVs, the one in the Crosstrek does not include a subwoofer.
The second includes the moonroof and Harman Kardon audio upgrade but adds navigation to the Starlink 11.6-inch touchscreen.
