Where most people hear hybrid and think fuel economy, Toyota uses its gas/electric technology to achieve a different goal: power.
The 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid combines a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine and electric motor to produce 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. Toyota calls it the i-Force Max, and although it offers far more power than the non-hybrid Tundra, its fuel economy is only slightly better.
Power like this lets the Tundra compete with the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 because it improves its power and towing ability. However, at 11,450 pounds, the Tundra still lags far behind the max tow ratings of the domestic competition.
Regarding payload, the hybrid lags slightly behind its non-hybrid counterpart, ranging from 1,485 pounds (Capstone) to 1,680 pounds (rear-wheel drive Limited) versus a maximum of 1,940 pounds for the gas-only Tundra.
Oddly, Toyota limits the hybrid option to the most expensive trims, making it optional on the Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition and standard on TRD Pro and Capstone. The Tundra Hybrid comes only in CrewMax crew cab configuration, but buyers can choose between a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. The TRD Pro and Capstone, notably, are available exclusively with 4-wheel drive (4WD) and the 5.5-foot bed.
Prices provided are current at the time of publishing.
What’s New:
For 2024, the Toyota Tundra Hybrid Limited gains a new Nightshade appearance package, while the Platinum 4WD grade offers the TRD Off-Road Package and a 3-inch TRD suspension lift kit. The TRD Pro adds Terra (an orange-like hue) to its paint color options.
Our Recommendation:
We like the 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Limited best. Yes, it’s the “base” model, but it’s remarkably well-equipped and significantly lower in price than the other Tundra Hybrid models.

You’ll find a tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster, and driver’s seat memory.
The Limited’s infotainment setup includes a 14-inch color touchscreen with a 9-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Platinum, a Wi-Fi hot spot (requires subscription), and a trial subscription as long as 10 years on certain Toyota connected apps.
Through Toyota’s Connected Services, you can access cloud-based navigation, schedule service at your local dealer, remotely interact with your vehicle, and even call roadside assistance.

Interestingly, the package also includes a power tilt/slide panoramic sunroof. You can get the TRD package on RWD or 4WD models, only the latter getting an electronic rear differential lock.
New this year is the Nightshade Package, which brings matte-black 20-inch alloy wheels, gloss-black exterior moldings, and black “overfenders” (fender flares) and rear bumper.

Like the Platinum, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition is available with power running boards and the Advanced Package, which includes rear air suspension and adaptive shock absorber damping.
What’s behind the 1794 name? It’s the year Juan Ignacio de Casanova of Spain founded a ranch in Texas on the site where the Toyota Tundra is currently built.
With the $1,850 delivery charge, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition costs $68,255. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $1,288. See 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition models for sale near you
2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro: $72,130
If you plan to do any serious off-roading in your 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid, get the TRD Pro.
Available exclusively as a Tundra Hybrid and equipped with an advanced 4WD system featuring an electronically locking rear differential, the Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro is built to go off-roading.
To that end, the TRD Pro has Multi-Terrain Select (selectable drive modes), Crawl Control (a super slow version of off-road cruise control), and TRD Pro off-road suspension, which includes a 1.1-inch front lift and large 2.5-inch Fox Internal Bypass shock absorbers. The TRD Pro Tundra Hybrid has 18-inch forged aluminum BBS wheels with P285/65R-18 all-terrain tires.
The TRD Pro has an aluminum front skid plate and Xply Armor covers for the engine, fuel tank, and transfer case underbody protection. Xply, in case you were wondering, is a durable material made of fiber-reinforced resin.
Also standard in the TRD Pro is Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Monitor. By pushing a button, you can display the front, rear, and side camera views on the Tundra Hybrid’s navigation screen, significantly improving your positional awareness on the trail.
Options? Apart from extended-length tow mirrors ($290), there’s not much else.
With the $1,850 delivery charge, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro costs $73,980. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $1,396. See 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro models for sale near you

- Crawl Control – This technology helps you smoothly tackle rugged terrain. On challenging slow-speed trails, Crawl Control automatically modulates the throttle and brakes so you can focus on the proper driving line.
- TRD Pro SofTex-trimmed seats – The TRD Pro seats, covered in a durable SofTex fabric with contrast stitching, have “technical camo” inserts.
2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Capstone: $78,845
The Capstone is aptly named; it’s the top 2024 Toyota Tundra you can buy. It’s the type of truck you’d see driven by a millionaire rancher in “Yellowstone.” As such, it’s an ultra-luxurious model fitted exclusively with the powerful hybrid powertrain, 4WD, and the shorter 5.5-foot bed.
How do you identify a Capstone? On the outside, look for the 22-inch alloy wheels with a dark chrome finish, complemented by a color-keyed grille, power running boards, and premium LED headlights with chrome trim.
Inside, the Capstone spoils its occupants with semi-aniline leather seats, which are heated front and rear and offer 10-way power adjustability in front. In addition to plush model-specific floor mats, the Capstone features a large panoramic sunroof (with a power sunshade) and ambient interior lighting.
Another unique Capstone feature is overlooked but greatly appreciated: Special acoustic side glass in the front doors makes this top Tundra remarkably quiet inside, an ideal place to enjoy your favorite tunes on the 12-speaker JBL sound system.
As a Tundra Platinum model even more lavishly equipped by Toyota, the Capstone further benefits from a Panoramic View Monitor, a 10-inch head-up display, and a handy Trailer Backup Guide that helps you place a trailer exactly where you want it to go.
Available Capstone options include the Advanced Package, which adds a load-leveling rear air suspension and adaptive suspension damping. Tow mirrors are only $290, and we think the optional Wind Chill Pearl Paint ($425) looks exceptionally sharp against the black-and-white coloring of the Capstone’s semi-aniline leather interior.
With the $1,850 delivery charge, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone costs $80,695. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $1,523. See 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone models for sale near you
2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Capstone includes:
- Trailer Backup Guide – While backing up with a trailer attached, this standard system handles all the necessary steering inputs, ensuring the trailer reaches its proper spot.
- Acoustic side glass – The Capstone’s front door glass is extra thick to help keep the loud world at bay. It’s noticeably quieter inside the Capstone.
- Semi-aniline interior leather – While the standard leather in the Tundra Hybrid Platinum impresses, the semi-aniline leather in the Capstone takes the luxury to a new level.
