If you are interested in purchasing a new Ford Bronco but still aren’t sure which model to get, this article should be helpful. Here we will break down all six of the Bronco’s trims, shedding some light on what type of buyer each one is for, and which well-known vehicles each one competes with most closely. To really follow along, it might be helpful to have Ford’s Bronco configurator open in a different tab.
Keep in mind: Each of the Bronco’s six trims is available in both 2- and 4-door form, and all can be optioned with the Sasquatch package, which we will discuss at the end.
Below we will break down each of the 2021 model options and the packages to choose from.
Ford Bronco Base Model
The entry-level Bronco is known as the “Base.” It doesn’t offer a lot. For starters, you get a basic black grille and silver-painted steel wheels. But given that creature comforts like power windows and locks, plus an 8-in touchscreen still come standard, the Bronco Base gives you significantly more content than a base-level Jeep Wrangler Sport.
Think of the Bronco Base as being on par with a Wrangler Sport S, which is one level up from the Sport. If you want a Bronco for the least amount of money possible, this is your move. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco Base for sale
Base Price
- The 2-door starting price is $28,500.
- The 4-door starting price is $33.200.
Ford Bronco Big Bend Model
The Big Bend is on par with a well-optioned Jeep Wrangler Sport S or a Toyota 4Runner SR5. The Bronco Big Bend comes standard with alloy wheels, mild all-terrain tires, a gray-painted grille, tinted windows, different traction modes, available heated seats, and more.
If you want a Bronco primarily for its removable roof and doors, and don’t care much for amenities items like leather and side steps, the Big Bend will suit you just fine. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco Big Bend for sale
Big Bend Price
- The 2-door starting price is $33,385.
- The 4-door starting price is $35,880.
Ford Bronco Black Diamond Model
The Black Diamond is the value-packed off-road-oriented Ford Bronco, and it’s the one I’d buy. It adds items like a locking rear differential, a heavy-duty modular steel front bumper, rubberized flooring, marine-grade vinyl seats, rock rails, skid plates, 17-in black steel wheels, 32-in all-terrain tires, an additional off-road driving mode, and pre-wired auxiliary switches.
The presence of a rear locker, but still no front locker or active sway bar disconnect, lends comparison to a non-KDSS 4Runner TRD Off-Road. But in reality, even a low-level Bronco is lightyears beyond the 4Runner in terms of tech, modernity, and configurability. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco Black Diamond for sale
Black Diamond Price
- The 2-door starting price is $36,050.
- The 4-door starting price is $38,585.
Ford Bronco Outer Banks Model
The Outer Banks is similar to a Wrangler Sahara or 4Runner Limited. The comfort-and-curb appeal Bronco, the Outer Banks adds to the Big Bend body-colored fenders, a chrome-accented grille, standard LED lighting, side steps, and blind-spot monitoring, and can be optioned with a 12-in LCD touchscreen and a B&O sound system.
The name connotes cruising along the beach and driving onto the dunes, which the Outer Banks is better suited for than serious technical off-roading. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco Outer Banks for sale
Outer Banks Price
- The 2-door starting price is $38,955.
- The 4-door starting price is $41,450.

Ford Bronco Badlands Model
Here’s where we get into the top-tier off-road trims. The Ford Bronco Badlands comes with the Bronco’s available Advanced 4×4 system with automatic engagement, 33-in all-terrain tires, Bilstein position-sensitive monotube shock absorbers, a front stabilizer bar disconnect, locking front and rear differentials, “enhanced” skid plates and rock rails, LED lighting, marine-grade vinyl seats with rubberized flooring, and more.
This is the Bronco to get if you’re planning serious off-roading; it’s on par with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands for sale
Badlands Price
- The 2-door starting price is $42,095.
- The 4-door starting price is $44,590.
Wildtrak
If the Badlands is the number 1 off-road Bronco, then the Wildtrak should be thought of as 1A. Similar to the Badlands, the Wildtrak comes with Bilstein position-sensitive monotube shock absorbers and locking front and rear diffs, plus pre-wired auxiliary switches and 35-in tires. It’s also only available with the Bronco’s 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6.
While either of the Bronco’s two premium off-road trims will be suitable for just about any terrain, the Bronco Badlands seems best suited for low-speed technical off-roading (think the Rubicon trail) while the Wildtrak is geared toward high-speed off-roading, like the kind you do in the desert. Wildtrak Price
- The 2-door starting price is $46,980.
- The 4-door starting price is $49,475.
First Edition
The Bronco First Edition comes fully loaded, combining nearly all of the features offered across other trims into one. This means it has the mechanicals of the badlands, the interior of the Outer Banks, and the exterior of the Wildtrak.
Unfortunately, though, Ford is only building 7,000 total examples of the Bronco First Edition, and all are already spoken for. Find a 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition for sale
First Edition Price
- The 2-door starting price is $57,410
- The 4-door starting price is $61,605.
High-Performance Trim (TBD)
Expect a high-performance Ford Bronco to debut in a year or two. Early on, everyone assumed this would bear the “Raptor” name, but now it’s looking like it’ll be dubbed the “Warthog.” Expect some combination of 35-in tires, a wider track, longer travel suspension, higher-performance shocks, unique colors, and a baja driving mode, at the very least.
The Sasquatch Package
Now that we have discussed all the different trims, we should mention the wildcard Ford has up its sleeve for the Bronco — the Sasquatch package.
For between $2,500 and $5,000, depending on the trim you’re starting with, the Sasquatch pack brings 35-in tires, 17-in beadlock-ready wheels, front and rear locking differentials, a shorter final drive ratio, and position-sensitive Bilstein shock absorbers.
It’s available on every trim level, even the base model, meaning that a base Bronco with the Sasquatch package will obliterate anything else at its price point when it comes to off-road capability, let alone curb appeal.
Other Ford Bronco Package Options Include:
Mid

- Optional for the Big Bend, Black Diamond, and Badlands.

Things to Consider
It is exciting that Ford is offering the Bronco in so many trims, as there really is something for everyone. Deciding which one is right for you comes down to really thinking about how you plan to use your Bronco, and then honing in on whichever one offers most of the features you want while omitting those you don’t want.
