2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overview - The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee returned virtually unmolested. Jeep did make blind-spot monitoring, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto standard on all trim levels. Those trim levels are Laredo, Limited, Overland, Trailhawk, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. We like the Grand Cherokee for its remarkable off-road prowess, its wide range of engines, and its refined on-pavement driving experience. Standard on Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit is a 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. Jeep pairs it with the same 8-speed automatic transmission found in every Grand Cherokee. According to government estimates, it delivers 19 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg in combined driving. That’s with rear-wheel drive (RWD). Opting for 4-wheel drive (4WD) barely moves the needle. Its mileage is 18 mpg/25 mpg/21 mpg. Author: Russ Heaps.

What is the best 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trim level? - If your aren’t going to the severest of off-roading sites or the race track, the Limited is a solid compromise between content and price. When new, the 4WD version was priced in the $40,000 range.

How many mpg does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee get? - For the best mileage, you need to find a Limited, Overland, or Summit with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel. The estimated mileage with RWD is 22 mpg/30 mpg/25 mpg. With 4WD, those numbers are 21 mpg/28 mpg/24 mpg. Otherwise, it’s the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, or Summit with the base a 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. It delivers 19 miles per gallon in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg in combined driving with RWD. Opting for 4-wheel drive (4WD) barely moves the needle. Its mileage is 18 mpg/25 mpg/21 mpg. The least fuel-efficient trim is the Trackhawk. Its estimated fuel economy is 11 mpg/17 mpg/13 mpg.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim level is the safest? - Not performing particularly well in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash and safety tests, the Grand Cherokee scored the top score of Good in only four out of the six tests. IIHS rated it a Poor in the small overlap front: passenger-side test and a Marginal in the small overlap front: driver-side. Every Grand Cherokee comes with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, hill-start assist, and rear-park assist. Rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning show up as options on the Limited, Trailhawk, and Overland. They become standard on the Summit.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - Standard are 17-inch aluminum wheels, auto on-off halogen headlights, fog lights, power accessories (door locks, windows, and heated outboard rearview mirrors). Also included are a 7-inch cluster display, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a fold-flat front passenger seat, a leather-wrapped tilt-telescopic steering wheel, and two USB ports. Also, dual-zone automatic climate control and keyless entry with push-button start are standard. A Uconnect 4 infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are also included. Advanced driver aids are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, hill-start assist, and rear-park assist. Jeep made several option packages available. For example, the Security and Convenience Group added a rear cargo cover, anti-theft alarm, remote start, a power liftgate, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Jeep also includes a Homelink transceiver and a 115-volt electric outlet. Key features of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo are:

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – Allow your smartphone to interface with your vehicle. Not only can you access the music on your phone, but you can also send messages, receive messages, make calls, and so forth through your vehicle’s media system.

Dual-zone automatic climate control – A set-it-and-forget-it system, it divides the vehicle into left and right regions. It provides separate temperature settings for each region. Once set, it automatically maintains the preset temperatures.

Keyless entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you touch the door handle. Push-button start pairs with keyless entry.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - Optional on the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit grades with 4WD is a 360-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine. Its estimated mileage is 14 mpg city/22 mpg highway/17 mpg combined. Optional on the Limited, Overland, and Summit trim levels is the 240-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel. The estimated mileage with RWD is 22 mpg/30 mpg/25 mpg. With 4WD, those numbers are 21 mpg/28 mpg/24 mpg. If you opt for 4WD, Limited uses the Quadra-Trac II active 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case and hill-descent control. To the Laredo, the Limited adds a power liftgate, outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, an auto-dimming driver’s side outboard mirror, and remote start. Also included are roof rails, 18-inch wheels, memory for the driver’s seat, outboard mirrors, and radio station, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Leather front seats, heated seats front and rear, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, and a third USB port are also standard. A rear-seat Blu-ray entertainment system (optional on all trims going forward) and the Jeep Active Safety Group are among the Limited’s options. The latter adds rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assistance. Key features of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited are:

Remote start – When within range, you can start the vehicle from outside it with the key fob. It’s handy for precooling the vehicle in summer and preheating it in winter.

Auto-dimming mirrors – Using photosensors, they recognize bright headlights closing from behind. They then automatically dim the reflection of those lights. Auto-dimming mirrors include the inside rearview and the driver-side outboard mirrors.

Power-adjustable front seats – These leather-covered seats provide 12-way adjustments, including lumbar.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk - Although when equipped with 4WD, all Grand Cherokee trim levels are immensely off-road capable, the Trailhawk sits at the top of the heap for off-road prowess. No matter which engine you pick, the Trailhawk comes with the Quadra-Track II active 4WD system and the Selec-Terrain traction-management system. It provides five traction-control settings. The Quadra-Lift air suspension with increased wheel travel and an extra 4.1 inches of additional lift is also standard. Other standard fare are power-folding outboard mirrors, a roof rack, 18-inch aluminum off-road wheels and tires, and unique Trailhawk leather seats with suede inserts. A 9-speaker Alpine audio system is included, as well. A Trailhawk Luxury Group adds upgrades like perforated leather seating, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and more. Key features of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk are:

Selec-Terrain – This traction-management system allows the driver to pick among five modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Mud and Rock.

Trailhawk leather seats – These leather seats up the luxury and functionality with suede inserts.

Alpine audio system – This 9-speaker system includes a subwoofer for dynamic sound.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland - The Overland loses some of the Trailhawk’s off-road performance elements, like the increased wheel travel. Opting for 4WD does provide the same 4WD system as Trailhawk. Overland also keeps the air suspension. Building on the Trailhawk, Overland adds Trailhawk’s Luxury Package as standard. It also includes 20-inch aluminum wheels, bi-xenon headlights with washers, high-beam assist, LED DRLs, and LED fog lights. Other standard features are a cargo cover and a wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel. Overland’s options include an off-road adventure package. Key features of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland are:

Rain-sensing wipers – It automatically engages the wipers when the system senses moisture on the windshield. The wiper speed adjusts according to the volume of the rain.

Power-adjustable steering wheel – Changing the height and distance of the steering wheel is as easy as pressing a button.

High-beam assist – If your vehicle has this system, the high beams are always on. When photosensors or a forward pointed camera detects oncoming headlights or taillights, the system automatically switches off the high beams. Then automatically switches them back on when no vehicle lights are detected.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit - To Overland, Summit adds a bright grille insert, upgraded LED fog lights, a deluxe cargo compartment, perforated Natura leather seating, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Also included are adaptive cruise control, Parallel and Perpendicular Parking Assistance, and rear cross-traffic alert. An appearance option package is available. Key features of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit are:

Adaptive cruise control – Once you have engaged the system and set the speed, the system will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating as needed.

Harmon Kardon audio system – This is a 19-speaker, 825-watt set up.

Parking Assistance – This system will do all the steering and braking to self-park in perpendicular and parallel parking spots.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT - The SRT is a high-performance version of the Summit. Its engine is a 475-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8. Its estimated mileage is 13 mpg/19 mpg/15 mpg. It provides 4WD as standard through the Quadra-Trac Active On Demand system. Jeep lowers its suspension, and it loses the air suspension. However, it has active damping. Jeep arms it with leather seats with suede inserts. The 9-speaker Alpine audio system replaces the Harmon Kardon system.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk - Where it counts, the Trackhawk is the SRT but with the Hellcat supercharged V8 under the hood. It delivers 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The estimated fuel economy is 11 mpg/17 mpg/13 mpg.
