The 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman is available in the Cayman, Cayman T, Cayman S, Cayman GTS 4.0 and Cayman GT4 trims, which largely differ by styling and performance. The 718 Boxster is the convertible version and is reviewed separately. The base
718 Cayman ($59,900, plus $1,350 destination) comes standard with 2-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, 18-inch wheels, summer performance tires, heated mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, bi-xenon headlights, and power-reclining front seats that have manual adjusters for fore/aft travel and height. The base Cayman also has partial leather seating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen interface, two USB ports, a media player interface, satellite radio, an HD Radio, and a 6-speaker sound system. The PDK 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available as an option. The
718 Cayman T ($68,900) is the driver-oriented base Cayman, using the same turbocharged engine with the same 300 hp rating. Sport suspension is standard on the Cayman T, along with drive modes, a lap timer, launch control, and the Porsche Torque Vectoring system (a rear differential lock). PDK optional. The
718 Cayman S ($71,900) adds a bigger 2.5-liter engine with an extra 50 hp and some unique styling upgrades. PDK optional. The
718 Cayman GTS 4.0 ($86,800) is the entry-level for the new naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engine. Besides the 394-hp flat-6, the Cayman GTS 4.0 comes with 20-inch Carrera S wheels, along with a leather and Alcantara interior. The Sport Chrono package also is standard; it includes launch control, a lap timer, and additional drive modes. At the top of the food chain is the
718 Cayman GT4 ($100,200). With 414 hp, it scoots. And with the big brakes from the 911 GT3, it never runs out of stopping power. The GT4 body features a big adjustable rear wing. The options list for the 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman is enormous, ranging from performance enhancements and convenience equipment to customization items like color-keyed trim pieces. Virtually everything can be added a la carte, though there are a handful of packages available to make ordering a little easier. Performance-enhancing items include the PDK automatic transmission, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adjustable suspension, pricey carbon-ceramic brakes, a torque-vectoring rear differential, a sport exhaust, and the Sport Chrono package, which features extra drive modes, a stability control sport mode, and launch control with the PDK transmission. Comfort and convenience items include
adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system, keyless entry and ignition, power-folding mirrors, a heated multifunction steering wheel, and 10-way power seats or 14-way sport seats. A full leather interior also can be ordered, along with a navigation system, Bose surround-sound audio, a fancier Burmester audio system, and Porsche Connect (an app that includes a number of safety remote services).
