Simply taking a European vacation is not altruistic, but if you also get to test drive the new Ford Focus and award ten grand to the charity of your choice, it could prove to be downright practical.
Log on quickly to Facebook.com/FordFocus. Ford Motor Company, building on their social networking success with Fiesta, is on to a new game, the Focus Global Test Drive. According to the Focus fan page, they are looking for people “who are excited, engaging, well-spoken, aren’t afraid to put themselves out there, and who can ignite the world with their passion for a good cause. (It also wouldn’t hurt if you love driving cool new cars!)
The gig? Ford wants you to create a two minute video about why you want to be one of the first to drive the 2010 Ford Focus and your passion for a specific cause. They ask participants to describe their concept for a special project, an event, a promotion, an initiative or another big idea to “start something more.” In short, Ford wants to be convinced of what $10,000 (USD) could mean for your charity.
Next, Ford wants you to share it with the world on your favorite social media sites and get discovered. And finally, the company encourages its participants to be passionate, vibrant, entertaining and driven. “Be all this and more and you could be chosen,” they promise.
The 100 winners, chosen for creativity, social networking skills and the volume of votes they receive will be awarded the market equivalent of $10,000 for their favorite charity. The cause categories listed are hunger, education and environment/sustainability.
And if that doesn’t rock you, Ford is inviting winners and a friend on a free trip to a mystery destination in Southern Europe in early 2011 to test drive the all-new Ford Focus – the technology-packed five door hatchback – which launches early next year.
Better get going on it. The video must be received by 23:59 EST on December 31, 2010.
