Arrested Development fans will always think of him behind the wheel of an airport stair car, but Jason Bateman prefers a more subtle ride when he's off the set. The stair car is probably sitting on some studio backlot right now, but you can still own a vehicle driven by the actor.
Jason Bateman's personal 2007 BMW 530xi is for sale right now on AutoTrader.com. Tim Yost is selling the car for Autobahn West, a dealership in El Cajon, California. The dealership purchased the car at a wholesale auction and its celebrity status was verified using BMW's service records, Yost said.
The car features a unique body kit that isn't normally found on the 530xi. "Mr. Bateman must have asked the dealership to install the sport package from a 550 on the car," Yost said "It looks like a 550xi wagon... if they made one."
Aside from the more aggressive styling, the rest of the car is straight from the factory. Power comes from BMW's celebrated 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, producing a healthy 255 horsepower. Helping to wrangle that power is BMW's X Drive all wheel drive system.
The dealership is asking $34,991 for the BMW wagon, which is slightly higher than the suggested retail value for similar cars, but no other car on the road has this BMW's credentials.
Jason Bateman was born into a Hollywood family and started working as an actor in the early 1980s. His career really took off in 2003 when he starred as Michael Bluth in the critically acclaimed TV series Arrested Development. The comedic role earned him a Golden Globe for best actor in 2005.
Bateman's latest work is The Change Up, a movie about two men, one a married father and the other a single ladies' man. The two swap bodies a la Freaky Friday and get to sample each other's lifestyles. The Change Up arrives in theaters this August.
