By 11:00 a.m.  on the first day of the Philadelphia Auto Show, the AutoTrader booth was buzzing with gamers. The bright orange and blue 25’ by 25’ display is stocked with seven gaming computers two of which are dedicated to the website.

“Three of the computers are ‘technically challenged’ so you can compete and play side by side,” explained Sherry Osequeda, who oversees the AutoTrader booths.

“AutoTrader started this new system at the Seattle Auto Show. We wanted to show that we are the perfect tool to help you find the car your heart and mind can agree on,” she explained.

The prizes, which range from a bright orange AutoTrader backpack to a $10 Visa gift card, are a bonus. But the fun is in the race, according to participants we talked to.

Russ Heaps and his wife Sherree were there with their granddaughter, Victoria, who was hard at work interacting (and winning prizes) at one of the stations.

“We use AutoTrader all of the time, mostly looking for cars,” noted Heaps, a 73-year-young car enthusiast. “My son, Ralph Junior, calls me every other day and tells me what he saw on AutoTrader. ‘You got to buy this dad!’ he says… and he’s 50 now!”

Heaps, who hails from New Castle, Delaware, admits to having 12 cars at one time. He’s down to six currently. His top favorite: a 1992 Mercedes 190E that he bought via Autotrader.com five years ago and a 2002 BMW Z3. Heaps recently bought his son, the one that keeps calling ‘dad’ for cars, a 1997 Dodge pick-up that he found on the AutoTrader site.

The collector says he’s owned thousands of cars in his lifetime (you do the math) and has bought at least a handful from Autotrader.com. When we asked him what he liked about the company, he responded, “They change the selections pretty quick, it’s realistic and easy to use and make comparisons.”

Overhearing the conversation, Victoria (the granddaughter) looked up from her game and chimed in, “Oh you all are talking about AutoTrader—that site that granddad is always on!”
